The BMW X4 doesn’t offer pretensioners for its rear seat belts.

A nine-speed automatic is standard on the Mercedes GLC Coupe, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only an eight-speed automatic is available for the X4.

The GLC Coupe’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The X4 doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For better maneuverability, the GLC 300 Coupe’s turning circle is 1.1 feet tighter than the X4’s (38.7 feet vs. 39.8 feet).

The Mercedes GLC Coupe may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 200 to 450 pounds less than the BMW X4.

The GLC Coupe is 4.3 inches shorter than the X4, making the GLC Coupe easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The GLC Coupe has .1 inches more front legroom, .8 inches more rear headroom, 1.7 inches more rear legroom and .5 inches more rear shoulder room than the X4.

Optional Trailer Stability Assist on the GLC Coupe uses the Electronic Stability Program sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The X4 doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the X4, the GLC Coupe offers an optional passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The GLC Coupe’s standard easy entry and exit feature raises the steering wheel and glides the driver’s seat back, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The X4 doesn’t offer an easy entry system.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the GLC Coupe to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The X4 doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the GLC Coupe to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The X4 doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

The GLC Coupe offers an optional 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The X4 doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

Motor Trend selected the GLC Coupe as their 2017 Sport Utility of the Year. The X4 has never been chosen.
