For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Audi RS Q8 are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Land Rover Range Rover Sport doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

The RS Q8 has a standard Secondary Collision Brake Assist, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Range Rover Sport doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

A passive infrared night vision system optional on the RS Q8 helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The Range Rover Sport doesn’t offer a night vision system.

Both the RS Q8 and the Range Rover Sport have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

For its top level performance in IIHS driver and passenger-side small overlap frontal, moderate overlap frontal, side impact, roof strength and head restraint tests, its standard vehicle-to-vehicle front crash prevention system, its standard vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash prevention system, and its standard headlight’s “Acceptable” rating, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety grants the RS Q8 its highest rating: “Top Safety Pick Plus” for 2022, a rating granted to only 128 vehicles tested by the IIHS. The Range Rover Sport has not been tested, yet.

The RS Q8’s corrosion warranty is 6 years longer than the Range Rover Sport’s (12 vs. 6 years).

There are over 53 percent more Audi dealers than there are Land Rover dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the RS Q8’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Audi vehicles are more reliable than Land Rover With 52 fewer problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, J.D. Power ranks Audi higher than Land Rover.

The RS Q8’s 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid produces 236 more horsepower (591 vs. 355) and 221 lbs.-ft. more torque (590 vs. 369) than the Range Rover Sport P360’s standard 3.0 turbo/supercharged 6-cylinder hybrid. The RS Q8’s 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid produces 196 more horsepower (591 vs. 395) and 184 lbs.-ft. more torque (590 vs. 406) than the Range Rover Sport P400’s standard 3.0 turbo/supercharged 6-cylinder hybrid. The RS Q8’s 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid produces 157 more horsepower (591 vs. 434) and 133 lbs.-ft. more torque (590 vs. 457) than the Range Rover Sport P440e’s standard 3.0 turbo/supercharged 6-cylinder hybrid. The RS Q8’s 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid produces 68 more horsepower (591 vs. 523) and 37 lbs.-ft. more torque (590 vs. 553) than the Range Rover Sport P530’s standard 4.4 turbo V8.

As tested in Car and Driver the Audi RS Q8 is faster than the Range Rover Sport P360 3.0 turbo/supercharged 6-cylinder hybrid:

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the RS Q8’s fuel efficiency. The Range Rover Sport doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

The RS Q8 has 3.6 gallons more fuel capacity than the Range Rover Sport P440e’s standard fuel tank (22.5 vs. 18.9 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

For better stopping power the RS Q8’s brake rotors are larger than those on the Range Rover Sport:

The RS Q8 offers optional heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The Range Rover Sport doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

The RS Q8 stops much shorter than the Range Rover Sport:

For better traction, the RS Q8 has larger tires than the Range Rover Sport (295/40R22 vs. 275/50R21). The RS Q8’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Range Rover Sport (295/40R22 vs. 285/45R23).

The RS Q8’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Range Rover Sport’s standard 50 series tires. The RS Q8’s tires have a lower 35 series profile than the Range Rover Sport’s optional 45 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the RS Q8 has standard 22-inch wheels. Smaller 21-inch wheels are standard on the Range Rover Sport.

The RS Q8 handles at .98 G’s, while the Range Rover Sport SE pulls only .81 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The RS Q8 is 8 inches narrower than the Range Rover Sport, making the RS Q8 easier to handle and maneuver in traffic.

The RS Q8 has 1.3 inches more front legroom and 2.4 inches more rear legroom than the Range Rover Sport.

A standard locking glovebox (which can’t be accessed with the valet key) keeps your small valuables safer in the RS Q8. The Range Rover Sport doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.

While the Range Rover Sport P440e can only tow 6613, any RS Q8 can tow a minimum of 7700 pounds.

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Audi service is better than Land Rover. J.D. Power ranks Audi 8th in service department satisfaction (above the industry average). With a 50% lower rating, Land Rover is ranked 30th.

If the windows are left open on the RS Q8 the driver can close them all at the outside door handle or from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the Range Rover Sport can only close the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the RS Q8 to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. Heated windshield washer nozzles cost extra on the Range Rover Sport.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the RS Q8 has standard extendable sun visors. The Range Rover Sport doesn’t offer extendable visors.

A manual rear sunshade is standard in the RS Q8 and power rear side window sunshades are optional to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The Range Rover Sport doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

The RS Q8 has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the Range Rover Sport.

The RS Q8’s optional Park Assist Plus can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Park Assist Plus will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The Range Rover Sport’s automatic parking system does not offer parking by remote control.

The Audi Q8/SQ8/RS Q8 outsold the Land Rover Range Rover Sport by 11% during 2022.
