For enhanced safety, the front and rear seat shoulder belts of the Audi RS Q8 have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers. The Jaguar F-Pace doesn’t offer pretensioners for its rear seat belts.

The RS Q8’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The F-Pace doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Audi RS Q8 are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Jaguar F-Pace doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

The RS Q8’s standard pretensioning seatbelts also sense rear collisions and remove slack from the seatbelts to help protect the occupants from whiplash and other injuries. The F-Pace doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

The RS Q8 has a standard Secondary Collision Brake Assist, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The F-Pace doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

A passive infrared night vision system optional on the RS Q8 helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The F-Pace doesn’t offer a night vision system.

Both the RS Q8 and the F-Pace have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras and rear cross-path warning.

The Audi RS Q8 weighs 955 to 1475 pounds more than the Jaguar F-Pace. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

For its top level performance in IIHS driver and passenger-side small overlap frontal, moderate overlap frontal, side impact, roof strength and head restraint tests, its standard vehicle-to-vehicle front crash prevention system, its standard vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash prevention system, and its standard headlight’s “Acceptable” rating, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety grants the RS Q8 its highest rating: “Top Safety Pick Plus” for 2022, a rating granted to only 128 vehicles tested by the IIHS. The F-Pace has not been tested, yet.

The RS Q8’s corrosion warranty is 6 years longer than the F-Pace’s (12 vs. 6 years).

There are over 60 percent more Audi dealers than there are Jaguar dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the RS Q8’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Audi vehicles are more reliable than Jaguar With 1 fewer problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, J.D. Power ranks Audi higher than Jaguar.

The RS Q8’s 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid produces 345 more horsepower (591 vs. 246) and 321 lbs.-ft. more torque (590 vs. 269) than the F-Pace P250’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder. The RS Q8’s 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid produces 196 more horsepower (591 vs. 395) and 184 lbs.-ft. more torque (590 vs. 406) than the F-Pace R-Dynamic S’ standard 3.0 turbo/supercharged 6-cylinder hybrid. The RS Q8’s 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid produces 49 more horsepower (591 vs. 542) and 74 lbs.-ft. more torque (590 vs. 516) than the F-Pace SVR’s standard 5.0 supercharged V8.

As tested in Car and Driver the Audi RS Q8 is faster than the F-Pace SVR 5.0 supercharged V8:

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the RS Q8’s fuel efficiency. The F-Pace doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

The RS Q8 has a standard locking fuel door which locks and unlocks with the power locks The fuel filler door is not lockable on the F-Pace. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank.

The RS Q8’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The F-Pace doesn’t offer launch control.

For better stopping power the RS Q8’s brake rotors are larger than those on the F-Pace:

The RS Q8 offers optional heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The F-Pace doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

The RS Q8 stops shorter than the F-Pace:

For better traction, the RS Q8 has larger tires than the F-Pace (295/40R22 vs. 255/55R19). The RS Q8’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the F-Pace (295/40R22 vs. 265/45R21).

The RS Q8’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the F-Pace’s standard 55 series tires. The RS Q8’s tires have a lower 35 series profile than the F-Pace SVR’s optional 40 series front tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the RS Q8 has standard 22-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the F-Pace. The RS Q8’s 23-inch wheels are larger than the 22-inch wheels optional on the F-Pace.

The RS Q8 has active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The F-Pace doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

The front and rear suspension of the RS Q8 uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the F-Pace, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The RS Q8 offers an available adjustable active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Jaguar doesn’t offer an active suspension on the F-Pace.

The RS Q8 has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The RS Q8’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The F-Pace doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the RS Q8’s wheelbase is 4.8 inches longer than on the F-Pace (117.9 inches vs. 113.1 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the RS Q8 is 1.8 inches wider in the front and 1.5 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the F-Pace.

The RS Q8 handles at .98 G’s, while the F-Pace pulls only .85 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The RS Q8 has 1.3 inches more front legroom, 1.8 inches more front shoulder room, 3 inches more rear legroom and 2.7 inches more rear shoulder room than the F-Pace.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the RS Q8’s rear seats recline. The F-Pace’s rear seats don’t recline.

The RS Q8’s cargo area is larger than the F-Pace’s in almost every dimension:

The RS Q8’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the F-Pace’s (7700 vs. 5291 pounds).

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Audi service is better than Jaguar. J.D. Power ranks Audi 8th in service department satisfaction (above the industry average). With a 7% lower rating, Jaguar is ranked 10th.

The RS Q8’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel and glides the driver’s seat back, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. An easy entry system costs extra on the F-Pace, and is not available on all models.

The RS Q8’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The F-Pace’s power mirror switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the RS Q8 to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. Heated windshield washer nozzles cost extra on the F-Pace.

To help drivers avoid possible obstacles, the RS Q8 has standard cornering lights to illuminate around corners when the turn signals are activated. The F-Pace doesn’t offer cornering lights.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the RS Q8 has standard extendable sun visors. The F-Pace doesn’t offer extendable visors.

A manual rear sunshade is standard in the RS Q8 and power rear side window sunshades are optional to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The F-Pace doesn’t offer a rear or rear side window sunshades.

The RS Q8 has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the F-Pace.

The RS Q8’s optional Park Assist Plus can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Park Assist Plus will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The F-Pace SVR’s automatic parking system requires operating the brakes and transmission to safely park and it doesn’t offer remote control parking.

The RS Q8 will cost the buyer less in the long run because of its superior resale value. The IntelliChoice estimates that the RS Q8 will retain 50.07% of its original price after five years, while the F-Pace only retains 45% to 47.08%.

The Audi Q8/SQ8/RS Q8 outsold the Jaguar F-Pace by 62% during 2022.
