Compare the2023 Audi e-tron GTVS 2023 Rolls-Royce Ghost

For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Audi e-tron GT are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Rolls-Royce Ghost doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

Both the e-tron GT and Ghost have rear cross-traffic warning, but the e-tron GT has Automatic Brake Activation (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The Ghost’s Cross Traffic Warning doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the e-tron GT and the Ghost have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available around view monitors.

The e-tron GT’s corrosion warranty is 8 years longer than the Ghost’s (12 vs. 4 years).

There are almost 8 times as many Audi dealers as there are Rolls-Royce dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the e-tron GT’s warranty.

The RS e-tron GT’s standard electric motors produces 46 more horsepower (637 vs. 591) than the Ghost Black Badge’s standard 6.6 turbo V12.

The e-tron GT can travel with zero emissions for 232 to 238 miles (dependent on model). The Ghost can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

Regenerative brakes improve the e-tron GT’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The Ghost doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

The e-tron GT, as a pure battery electric vehicle, has no need to “idle” its motors in traffic: they only burn power when moving. The e-tron GT’s climate control systems still work completely when the vehicle is stopped. The Ghost still runs its internal combustion engine whenever it’s stopped, burning excess fuel.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Audi e-tron GT higher (10 out of 10) than the Rolls-Royce Ghost (3). This means the e-tron GT produces up to 36.3 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Ghost every 15,000 miles.

The e-tron GT’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The Ghost doesn’t offer launch control.

For better stopping power the RS e-tron GT’s front brake rotors are larger than those on the Ghost:

The e-tron GT RS offers optional heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The Ghost doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

For better traction, the e-tron GT Prestige/RS’ optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Ghost (F:265/35R21 & R:305/30R21 vs. F:255/40R21 & R:285/35R21).

The e-tron GT Prestige/RS’ optional 265/35R21 front and 305/30R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Ghost’s 40 series front and 35 series rear tires.

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the e-tron GT is 3.1 inches wider in the front and .2 inches wider in the rear than on the Ghost.

The e-tron GT’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (49% to 51%) than the Ghost’s (53% to 47%). This gives the e-tron GT more stable handling and braking.

The RS e-tron GT handles at .95 G’s, while the Ghost pulls only .90 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The RS e-tron GT executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1.2 seconds quicker than the Ghost (24.1 seconds @ .85 average G’s vs. 25.3 seconds @ .75 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the e-tron GT’s turning circle is 4.6 feet tighter than the Ghost’s (38.1 feet vs. 42.7 feet). The e-tron GT’s turning circle is 7.8 feet tighter than the Ghost Extended’s (38.1 feet vs. 45.9 feet).

The Audi e-tron GT may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 400 pounds less than the Rolls-Royce Ghost.

The e-tron GT is 1 foot, 9.9 inches shorter than the Ghost, making the e-tron GT easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

For excellent aerodynamics, the e-tron GT has standard flush composite headlights. The Ghost has recessed headlights that spoil its aerodynamic shape and create extra drag.

The e-tron GT’s standard rear seats fold to accommodate long and bulky cargo. The Ghost doesn’t offer folding rear seats.

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the e-tron GT’s trunk can be opened and closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Ghost doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its trunk, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

The e-tron GT has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The Ghost doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the e-tron GT has standard extendable sun visors. The Ghost doesn’t offer extendable visors.

The e-tron GT Prestige/RS’ Park Assist Plus can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Park Assist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The Ghost’s automatic parking system does not offer parking by remote control.

The Audi e-tron outsold the Rolls-Royce Ghost by over 22 to one during 2022.
