In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the Kicks SV/SR are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The Corsair doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

Both the Kicks and the Corsair have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front wheel drive, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, available daytime running lights, around view monitors and driver alert monitors.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration does side impact tests on new vehicles. In this test, which crashes the vehicle into a flat barrier at 38.5 MPH and into a post at 20 MPH, results indicate that the Nissan Kicks is safer than the Lincoln Corsair:

Instrumented handling tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and analysis of its dimensions indicate that the Kicks is 1.4% to 1.9% less likely to roll over than the Corsair.

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Nissan Kicks uses regular unleaded gasoline. The Corsair with the 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder engine requires premium for maximum efficiency, which can cost on average about 82.8 cents more per gallon.

The Kicks has a standard locking fuel door. The fuel filler door is not lockable on the Corsair. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Nissan Kicks higher (7 out of 10) than the Lincoln Corsair (5 to 7). This means the Kicks produces up to 8 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Corsair every 15,000 miles.

The Kicks SV/SR’s standard front and rear disc brakes are vented to help dissipate heat for shorter stops with less fading. The rear discs on the Corsair are solid, not vented.

The Kicks stops shorter than the Corsair:

The Kicks has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The Corsair doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

The Kicks SR handles at .82 G’s, while the Corsair Standard AWD pulls only .79 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

For better maneuverability, the Kicks’ turning circle is 3 feet tighter than the Corsair’s (34.1 feet vs. 37.1 feet).

The Nissan Kicks may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 1000 to 1650 pounds less than the Lincoln Corsair.

The Kicks is 1 foot shorter than the Corsair, making the Kicks easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Kicks is 7 inches narrower on average than the Corsair, making the Kicks easier to handle and maneuver in traffic.

The Kicks has .9 inches more front headroom and .5 inches more front legroom than the Corsair.

Consumer Reports® recommends both the Nissan Kicks and the Lincoln Corsair, based on reliability, safety and performance.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Kicks third among small suvs in owner reported satisfaction. This includes how well the vehicle performs and satisfies its owner’s expectations. The Corsair isn’t in the top three in its category.

The Nissan Kicks outsold the Lincoln Corsair by almost two to one during 2022.
