The GT-R has all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The F8 doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.

The GT-R has standard NissanConnect Services, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The F8 doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the GT-R and the F8 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and rear parking sensors.

The Nissan GT-R weighs 659 to 771 pounds more than the Ferrari F8. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

Nissan’s powertrain warranty covers the GT-R 2 years longer than Ferrari covers the F8. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Coverage on the F8 ends after only 3 years.

The GT-R’s corrosion warranty is 2 years longer than the F8’s (5 vs. 3 years).

There are over 23 times as many Nissan dealers as there are Ferrari dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the GT-R’s warranty.

On the EPA test cycle the GT-R gets better fuel mileage than the F8 Tributo (16 city/22 hwy vs. 15 city/19 hwy).

All wheel drive, available in the GT-R, provides the best traction for acceleration in wet, dry, and icy conditions. In corners, all wheel drive allows both outside wheels to provide power, balancing the car. This allows for better handling. The Ferrari F8 is not available with all wheel drive.

For better stopping power the GT-R NISMO’s brake rotors are larger than those on the F8:

In an emergency stopping situation, many drivers don’t press the brakes with enough force to stop the vehicle in the shortest distance. The GT-R has a standard brake assist system to detect emergency braking situations (by how hard and how quickly the brake pedal is pressed) and then automatically apply maximum braking immediately in order to help prevent a collision. The F8 doesn’t offer a brake assist feature.

For better traction, the GT-R has larger front tires than the F8 (255/40R20 vs. 245/35R20).

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires standard on the GT-R can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The F8 doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the GT-R’s wheelbase is 5.1 inches longer than on the F8 (109.4 inches vs. 104.3 inches).

The GT-R’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (54.7% to 45.3%) than the F8’s (41.5% to 58.5%). This gives the GT-R more stable handling and braking.

For better maneuverability, the GT-R’s turning circle is 2.1 feet tighter than the F8’s (36.6 feet vs. 38.7 feet). The GT-R NISMO’s turning circle is 1.3 feet tighter than the F8’s (37.4 feet vs. 38.7 feet).

To almost totally eliminate engine vibration in the passenger area, the GT-R has a liquid-filled front engine mount. The liquid helps further dampen engine harshness. The F8 uses conventional solid rubber engine mounts.

The design of the Nissan GT-R amounts to more than styling. The GT-R has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .26 Cd. That is significantly lower than the F8 (.292). A more efficient exterior helps the GT-R go faster and keeps the interior quieter. It also helps the GT-R get better fuel mileage.

The GT-R uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The F8 doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The GT-R has standard seating for 4 passengers; the F8 can only carry 2.

The GT-R has a much larger trunk than the F8 Tributo (8.8 vs. 7.1 cubic feet).

The GT-R’s entire steering wheel hub sounds the horn, facilitating hitting the horn in an emergency. The F8 has two small spoke buttons. These buttons can be hard to find and reach in an emergency.

The GT-R’s standard power windows have a locking feature to keep children from operating them. Ferrari does not offer a locking feature on the F8’s standard power windows.

The GT-R’s front power windows open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The F8’s front passenger window doesn’t close automatically.

The GT-R’s standard power window controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The F8’s available power window controls are spread out on the center console where they can’t be seen without the driver completely removing his eyes from the road.

The Intelligent Key standard on the GT-R allows you to unlock the driver’s door, trunk and start the engine all without removing a key from pocket or purse. This eliminates searching for keys before loading groceries, getting in the vehicle in bad weather or making a hurried start to your trip. The Ferrari F8’s Keyless Entry and Ignition doesn’t unlock the trunk.

The GT-R has standard heated front seats, which keep the driver and front passenger extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated seats aren’t available in the F8.

The GT-R’s standard GPS navigation system has a real-time traffic update feature that plots alternative routes to automatically bypass traffic problems. (Service not available in all areas.) The F8’s navigation system doesn’t offer real-time traffic updates.
