For enhanced safety, the front and middle seat shoulder belts of the Nissan Armada are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Lincoln Navigator L doesn’t offer height-adjustable middle seat belts.

The Armada has standard Active Head Restraints, which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the Active Head Restraints system moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The Navigator L doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

Both the Armada and Navigator L have rear cross-traffic warning, but the ArmadaPlatinum has Intelligent Back-Up Intervention (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The Navigator L’s Cross-Traffic Alert doesn’t automatically brake.

The Armada S/SV has a standard full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the Navigator L; it requires you to depend on a temporary spare, which limits mileage and speed before replacement.

The rear suspension of the Armada uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the Navigator L, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The Armada has a standard automatic rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Navigator L doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For better maneuverability, the Armada’s turning circle is 2 feet tighter than the Navigator L’s (41.3 feet vs. 43.3 feet).

The Nissan Armada may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs up to about 300 pounds less than the Lincoln Navigator L.

The Armada is 1 foot, 1 inches shorter than the Navigator L, making the Armada easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Armada’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Navigator L’s (8500 vs. 6600 pounds).

The Armada’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The Navigator L does not have an oil pressure gauge.

The Armada’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The Navigator L’s cruise control switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

When the Armada SL/Platinum is put in reverse, both rearview mirrors tilt from their original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirrors into their original positions. The Navigator L’s mirrors don’t automatically adjust for backing.

Insurance will cost less for the Armada owner. The Complete Car Cost Guide estimates that insurance for the Armada will cost $2290 to $6805 less than the Navigator L over a five-year period.

IntelliChoice estimates that five-year ownership costs (depreciation, financing, insurance, fuel, fees, repairs and maintenance) for the Nissan Armada will be $24236 to $31015 less than for the Lincoln Navigator L.
