Safety

The Range Rover’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Urus doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

The Range Rover’s standard lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane and gently nudges the vehicle back towards its lane. A lane departure warning system costs extra on the Urus.

The Range Rover has a standard blind spot warning system that uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them and moves the vehicle back into its lane. A system to reveal vehicles in the Urus’ blind spot costs extra.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the Range Rover has standard Rear Traffic Monitor and Rear Traffic Braking automatically engages the brakes to help avoid a collision. Lamborghini charges extra for Rear Cross-Traffic Assist on the Urus.

The Range Rover’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Urus doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the Range Rover and the Urus have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes and rearview cameras.

Warranty

There are almost 6 times as many Land Rover dealers as there are Lamborghini dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Range Rover’s warranty.

The Range Rover P440e can travel with zero emissions for 48 miles. The Urus can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

Regenerative brakes improve the Range Rover’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The Urus doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

In heavy traffic or at stoplights the Range Rover’s engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. The engine is automatically restarted when the driver gets ready to move again. If the conditions warrant or the driver wishes, the system can be manually disabled at any time for the duration of a trip. The Urus doesn’t offer an automatic engine start/stop system.

The Range Rover’s standard fuel tank has 1.3 gallons more fuel capacity than the Urus (23.8 vs. 22.5 gallons).

Suspension and Handling

The Range Rover’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The Urus doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For better maneuverability, the Range Rover SWB’s turning circle is 2.8 feet tighter than the Urus’ (35.9 feet vs. 38.7 feet). The Range Rover LWB’s turning circle is .8 feet tighter than the Urus’ (37.9 feet vs. 38.7 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Range Rover has a 3.2 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the Urus (11.6 vs. 8.4 inches), allowing the Range Rover to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The Range Rover’s minimum ground clearance is 1.8 inches higher than on the Urus (11.6 vs. 9.8 inches).

Chassis

The Range Rover uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Urus doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

Passenger Space

The Range Rover LWB offers optional seating for 7 passengers; the Urus can only carry up to 5.

The Range Rover’s rear cargo window opens separately from the rest of the tailgate door to allow quicker loading of small packages. The Urus’ rear cargo window doesn’t open.

Towing

Standard Trailer Stability Assist (TSA) on the Range Rover uses the Dynamic Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The Urus doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

Ergonomics

The Range Rover has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The Urus doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

The Range Rover’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Urus’

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the Range Rover to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Urus doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Range Rover has a standard rear wiper. The Urus doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

Optional air conditioned front and second row seats keep the Range Rover’s passengers comfortable and take the sting out of hot leather in summer. The Urus doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats in the rear.

Both the Range Rover and the Urus offer optional massaging front seats. The Range Rover also offers optional massaging second row seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging rear seats aren’t available in the Urus.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Land Rover Range Rover has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. The Urus doesn’t offer wireless personal charging.

The Range Rover offers an optional 115-volt a/c outlet, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Urus doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

Recommendations
