The R8 has a standard Secondary Collision Brake Assist, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Huracán doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

The R8 has standard Audi Connect CARE, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The Huracán doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the R8 and the Huracán have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and rearview cameras.

There are almost 9 times as many Audi dealers as there are Lamborghini dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the R8’s warranty.

On the EPA test cycle the R8 gets better mileage than the Huracán:

In an emergency stopping situation, many drivers don’t press the brakes with enough force to stop the vehicle in the shortest distance. The R8 has a standard brake assist system to detect emergency braking situations (by how hard and how quickly the brake pedal is pressed) and then automatically apply maximum braking immediately in order to help prevent a collision. The Huracán doesn’t offer a brake assist feature.

For better traction, the R8 has larger tires than the Huracán (F:245/30R20 & R:305/30R20 vs. F:235/40R19 & R:285/40R19).

The R8’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Huracán Sterrato’s standard 40 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the R8 has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the Huracán.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the R8’s wheelbase is 1.2 inches longer than on the Huracán Technica Coupe (104.3 inches vs. 103.1 inches).

For better maneuverability, the R8’s turning circle is 1 foot tighter than the Huracán’s (36.7 feet vs. 37.7 feet).

The R8 is 3.5 inches shorter than the Huracán Technica Coupe, making the R8 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The R8 has 4 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Huracán (50 vs. 46).

The R8 Coupe has a larger trunk than the Huracán Coupe (4 vs. 3.5 cubic feet).

A Service Indicator is standard on the R8 to save the owner time and money by calculating maintenance intervals for oil changes, based on odometer mileage. This takes the guesswork out of keeping your vehicle in top condition and helps it last longer. Lamborghini doesn’t offer a maintenance reminder on the Huracán.

When different drivers share the R8, the memory system makes it convenient. Each keyless remote activates different, customized memories for the driver’s seat position, suspension setting, power steering assist and climate settings. The Huracán doesn’t offer a memory system.

The R8’s front power windows open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The Huracán’s power windows’ switches have to be held the entire time to close them fully.

On a hot day the R8 has a standard remote opening feature, to lower the top from outside. The Huracán doesn’t offer a remote top, so the driver will have to enter the car, turn the ignition on and lower the top.

The R8’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Huracán’s manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

Laser headlights, standard on the R8 Quattro, produce their light by firing blue lasers through phosphorus, a process that uses one-half the power of the Huracán’s LED headlights. Laser headlights can have double the range of LEDs with a much smaller surface area.

While driving with high beams on, sensitive light sensors standard on the R8 detect other vehicles which could be blinded and automatically switch to low beams. The Huracán doesn’t offer automatic dimming high beams.

To help drivers avoid possible obstacles, the R8 has standard cornering lights to illuminate around corners when the turn signals are activated. The Huracán doesn’t offer cornering lights.

The R8’s standard rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The Huracán offers an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

To help keep the driver’s hands on the wheel, the R8 has standard steering wheel controls for the radio. The Huracán doesn’t offer steering wheel audio controls.
