To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the I-Pace. But it costs extra on the Polestar 2.

The I-Pace has a standard blind spot warning system that uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them and moves the vehicle back into its lane. A system to reveal vehicles in the Polestar 2’s blind spot costs extra.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the I-Pace has standard Rear Traffic Warning and Rear Traffic Braking automatically engages the brakes to help avoid a collision. Polestar charges extra for Cross Traffic Alert on the Polestar 2.

Both the I-Pace and the Polestar 2 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The I-Pace comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The 2’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Jaguar pays for scheduled maintenance on the I-Pace for 5 years and 60,000 miles. Jaguar will pay for oil changes, lubrication and any other required maintenance. Polestar doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the 2.

There are over 7 times as many Jaguar dealers as there are Polestar dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the I-Pace’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Jaguar vehicles are better in initial quality than Polestar vehicles. With 118 fewer problems per 100 vehicles, JD Power ranks Jaguar higher than Polestar.

The I-Pace’s electric motors produces 163 more horsepower (394 vs. 231) and 269 lbs.-ft. more torque (512 vs. 243) than the Polestar 2 Single Motor’s standard electric motor. The I-Pace’s electric motors produces 25 lbs.-ft. more torque (512 vs. 487) than the Polestar 2 Dual Motor’s standard electric motors. The I-Pace’s electric motors produces 10 lbs.-ft. more torque (512 vs. 502) than the Polestar 2 Dual Motor’s optional electric motors.

As tested in Motor Trend the Jaguar I-Pace is faster than the Polestar 2 Dual Motor electric motors:

The I-Pace has a standard locking charge port with a remote release located convenient to the driver. The Polestar 2 doesn’t have a locking charge port. A locking charge port prevents tampering and damage.

For better stopping power the I-Pace’s brake rotors are larger than those on the Polestar 2:

For better traction, the I-Pace’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Polestar 2 (255/40R22 vs. 245/45R19).

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the I-Pace has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the Polestar 2. The I-Pace’s optional 22-inch wheels are larger than the 21-inch wheels optional on the Polestar 2 BST.

The I-Pace offers an optional space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the Polestar 2; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

The front and rear suspension of the I-Pace uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the Polestar 2, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The I-Pace has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The I-Pace’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The Polestar 2 doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the I-Pace’s wheelbase is 10.1 inches longer than on the Polestar 2 (117.7 inches vs. 107.6 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the I-Pace is 1.6 inches wider in the front and 2.4 inches wider in the rear than on the Polestar 2.

The I-Pace HSE handles at .93 G’s, while the Polestar 2 AWD pulls only .92 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

For greater off-road capability the I-Pace has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Polestar 2 Performance Package (6.5 vs. 5.7 inches), allowing the I-Pace to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The I-Pace’s minimum ground clearance is .6 inch higher than on the Polestar 2 (6.5 vs. 5.9 inches).

The I-Pace has .3 inches more front headroom, 3 inches more front shoulder room, 1.1 inches more rear headroom, 1.1 inches more rear legroom and 2 inches more rear shoulder room than the Polestar 2.

A standard locking glovebox (which can’t be accessed with the valet key) keeps your small valuables safer in the I-Pace. The Polestar 2 doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.

The I-Pace offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed and navigation instruction readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Polestar 2 doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Jaguar I-Pace has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the Polestar 2.

The I-Pace’s Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, with the driver only controlling speed with the brake pedal. The Polestar 2 doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
