Using vehicle speed sensors and seat sensors, smart airbags in the E-Pace deploy with different levels of force to help better protect passengers of all sizes in different collisions. The E-Pace’s side airbags will shut off if a child is leaning against the door. The Range Rover Velar’s side airbags don’t have smart features and will always deploy full force.

The E-Pace offers an optional 3D Surround Camera to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The Range Rover Velar only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

Both the E-Pace and the Range Rover Velar have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

The E-Pace comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Range Rover Velar’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Jaguar pays for scheduled maintenance on the E-Pace for 5 years and 60,000 miles. Jaguar will pay for oil changes, lubrication and any other required maintenance. Land Rover doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the Range Rover Velar.

Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Jaguar vehicles are more reliable than Land Rover With 51 fewer problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, J.D. Power ranks Jaguar higher than Land Rover.

As tested in Consumer Reports the Jaguar E-Pace is faster than the Range Rover Velar P250 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder:

On the EPA test cycle the E-Pace P250 gets better fuel mileage than the Range Rover Velar P400 (20 city/26 hwy vs. 19 city/25 hwy).

A nine-speed automatic is standard on the Jaguar E-Pace, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only an eight-speed automatic is available for the Range Rover Velar.

The E-Pace SE handles at .80 G’s, while the Range Rover Velar pulls only .77 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

For better maneuverability, the E-Pace’s turning circle is 1.1 feet tighter than the Range Rover Velar’s (38.1 feet vs. 39.2 feet).

The Jaguar E-Pace may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 200 to 500 pounds less than the Land Rover Range Rover Velar.

The E-Pace is 1 foot, 3.9 inches shorter than the Range Rover Velar, making the E-Pace easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Jaguar E-Pace has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. The Range Rover Velar doesn’t offer wireless personal charging.

Insurance will cost less for the E-Pace owner. The Complete Car Cost Guide estimates that insurance for the E-Pace will cost $2935 to $6795 less than the Range Rover Velar over a five-year period.

IntelliChoice estimates that five-year ownership costs (depreciation, financing, insurance, fuel, fees, repairs and maintenance) for the Jaguar E-Pace will be $18400 to $26762 less than for the Land Rover Range Rover Velar.
