Both the F-Type and the 718 Cayman have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, rearview cameras and available blind spot warning systems.

The Jaguar F-Type weighs 408 to 880 pounds more than the Porsche 718 Cayman. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

The F-Type comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The 718 Cayman’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Jaguar pays for scheduled maintenance on the F-Type for 4 years and 50,000 miles longer than Porsche pays for maintenance for the 718 Cayman (5/60,000 vs. 1/10,000).

The F-Type has 4.3 gallons more fuel capacity than the 718 Cayman’s standard fuel tank (18.5 vs. 14.2 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups. The F-Type has 1.6 gallons more fuel capacity than the 718 Cayman’s optional fuel tank (18.5 vs. 16.9 gallons).

The Jaguar F-Type comes standard with an automatic transmission, for driver comfort, especially in the city. Automatic costs extra on the 718 Cayman.

An eight-speed automatic is standard on the Jaguar F-Type, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a seven-speed automatic is available for the 718 Cayman.

All wheel drive, available in the F-Type, provides the best traction for acceleration in wet, dry, and icy conditions. The F-Type’s 255/35R20 front and 295/30R20 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the 718 Cayman’s standard 45 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the F-Type has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the 718 Cayman.

The F-Type’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The 718 Cayman doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

To make loading and unloading groceries and cargo easier, especially for short adults, the F-Type Coupe offers an optional power trunk, which opens and closes automatically by pressing a button. The 718 Cayman doesn’t offer a power trunk.

The F-Type has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The 718 Cayman doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

Unlike the driver-only memory system optional in the 718 Cayman, the F-Type offers an optional driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The F-Type’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. An easy entry system costs extra on the 718 Cayman.

On a hot day the F-Type’s driver can lower all the windows from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the 718 Cayman can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The F-Type’s LED headlights produce a white, bright light using less electricity than the 718 Cayman’s standard xenon high intensity discharge (HID) headlights. HID headlights can be slow to reach full brightness or power cycle, causing issues when flashing them to signal other vehicles; LED headlights light instantly. LED lights also last about three to four times as long.

The F-Type’s optional Park Assist can parallel park by itself, with the driver only controlling speed with the brake pedal. The 718 Cayman doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
