Tires and Wheels
For better traction, the QX50 Sport/Sensory/Autograph’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the NX (255/45R20 vs. 235/60R18).
The QX50’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 55 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the NX’s standard 60 series tires. The QX50 Sport/Sensory/Autograph’s tires have a lower 45 series profile than the NX’s optional 50 series tires.
For better ride, handling and brake cooling the QX50 has standard 19-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the NX.
The QX50 has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The NX doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.
Suspension and Handling
For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the QX50’s wheelbase is 4.3 inches longer than on the NX (110.2 inches vs. 105.9 inches).
For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the QX50 is 1.2 inches wider in the front than the track on the NX.

Chassis
The design of the Infiniti QX50 amounts to more than styling. The QX50 has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .32 Cd. That is lower than the NX (.35) and many sports cars. A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the QX50 get better fuel mileage.
The QX50 uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The NX doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.
Passenger Space
The QX50 has 2.7 inches more front headroom, 1.6 inches more front shoulder room, .6 inches more rear headroom, 2.6 inches more rear legroom, 1.3 inches more rear hip room and 3.1 inches more rear shoulder room than the NX.
Cargo Capacity

Maximum trailer towing in the Lexus NX is limited to 2000 pounds. The QX50 AWD offers up to a 3000 lbs. towing capacity.
Ergonomics
The QX50’s standard speed-sensitive wipers speed up when the vehicle does, so that the driver doesn’t have to continually adjust the speed of the wipers. The NX’s standard manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.
Consumer Reports rated the QX50’s headlight performance “Good,” a higher rating than the NX’s headlights, which were rated “Fair.”
Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the QX50 to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The NX doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.
