For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Genesis GV80 are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Jaguar F-Pace doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the GV80 are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The F-Pace doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

The Genesis GV80 has a standard driver’s side knee airbag mounted low on the dashboard. The knee airbag helps prevent the driver from sliding under the seatbelts or the main frontal airbag; this keeps the driver better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. A knee airbag also helps keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The F-Pace doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The GV80 has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The F-Pace doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The GV80 offers optional Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist-Reverse that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The F-Pace doesn’t offer automatic braking for stationary objects directly to the rear.

Both the GV80 and the F-Pace have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

For its top level performance in IIHS driver and passenger-side small overlap frontal, moderate overlap frontal, side impact, roof strength and head restraint tests, its standard vehicle-to-vehicle front crash prevention system, its standard vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash prevention system, and its standard headlight’s “Acceptable” rating, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety grants the GV80 its highest rating: “Top Safety Pick Plus” for 2022, a rating granted to only 126 vehicles tested by the IIHS. The F-Pace has not been tested, yet.

Genesis’ powertrain warranty covers the GV80 5 years and 40,000 miles longer than Jaguar covers the F-Pace. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the F-Pace ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

The GV80’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the F-Pace’s (7 vs. 6 years).

There are over 61 percent more Genesis dealers than there are Jaguar dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the GV80’s warranty.

To reliably power the ignition and other systems and to recharge the battery, the GV80 has a standard 150-amp alternator (180-amp - GV80 3.5T). The F-Pace’s 130-amp alternator isn’t as powerful.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Genesis vehicles are better in initial quality than Jaguar vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Genesis fourth in initial quality, above the industry average. With 54 more problems per 100 vehicles, Jaguar is ranked 26th, below the industry average.

Power ranks Genesis fourth in reliability, above the industry average. With 78 more problems per 100 vehicles, Jaguar is ranked 26th.

On the EPA test cycle the GV80 gets better mileage than the F-Pace:

The GV80 has a standard locking fuel door with a remote release located convenient to the driver The fuel filler door is not lockable on the F-Pace. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank.

For better traction, the GV80 has larger tires than the F-Pace (265/40R22 vs. 255/55R19).

The GV80 offers an optional automatic rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The F-Pace doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the GV80’s wheelbase is 3.2 inches longer than on the F-Pace (116.3 inches vs. 113.1 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the GV80 is 1.2 inches wider in the front and 1.3 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the F-Pace.

The GV80 PRESTIGE handles at .86 G’s, while the F-Pace pulls only .85 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the GV80’s middle and third row seats recline. The F-Pace’s rear seats don’t recline.

The GV80’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the F-Pace’s (6000 vs. 5291 pounds).

The GV80’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel and glides the driver’s seat back, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. An easy entry system costs extra on the F-Pace, and is not available on all models.

The GV80’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The F-Pace’s power mirror switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the GV80 has standard extendable sun visors. The F-Pace doesn’t offer extendable visors.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the GV80 to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The F-Pace doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

The GV80 has standard front air conditioned seats and offers them optionally in the second row. This keeps the passengers comfortable and takes the sting out of hot seats in summer. The F-Pace doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats in the rear.

The GV80 has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the F-Pace.

The GV80 offers an optional 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The F-Pace doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The GV80’s optional Smart Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Optional Remote Smart Parking Assist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The F-Pace SVR’s automatic parking system requires operating the brakes and transmission to safely park and it doesn’t offer remote control parking.

Insurance will cost less for the GV80 owner. The Complete Car Cost Guide estimates that insurance for the GV80 will cost $600 less than the F-Pace over a five-year period.

The GV80 will cost the buyer less in the long run because of its superior resale value. The IntelliChoice estimates that the GV80 will retain 47.61% to 48.08% of its original price after five years, while the F-Pace only retains 45% to 47.08%.

IntelliChoice estimates that five-year ownership costs (depreciation, financing, insurance, fuel, fees, repairs and maintenance) for the Genesis GV80 will be $2785 to $13431 less than for the Jaguar F-Pace.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the GV80 second among upper midsize premium suvs in owner reported satisfaction. This includes how well the vehicle performs and satisfies its owner’s expectations. The F-Pace isn’t in the top three.

The GV80 was chosen as a Car and Driver’s “Top Ten” for 2021. The F-Pace has never been chosen by Car and Driver in their “10Best” issue.

The Genesis GV80 outsold the Jaguar F-Pace by over three to one during 2022.
