The Yukon (except SLE with front bench seat) has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The LX doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

Both the Yukon and the LX have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, plastic fuel tanks, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras, available all wheel drive, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

There are almost 7 times as many GMC dealers as there are Lexus dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Yukon’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Yukon second among large suvs in their 2022 Initial Quality Study. The LX isn’t in the top three in its category.

The Yukon’s optional 6.2 V8 produces 11 more horsepower (420 vs. 409) than the LX’s 3.4 turbo V6.

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the Yukon V8’s fuel efficiency. The LX doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

The Yukon has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The LX doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

For better traction, the Yukon’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the LX (275/60R20 vs. 265/55R20).

The Yukon has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The LX doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

For superior ride and handling, the GMC Yukon has fully independent front and rear suspensions. An independent suspension allows the wheels to follow the road at the best angle for gripping the pavement, without compromising ride comfort. The Lexus LX has a solid rear axle, with a non-independent rear suspension.

The Yukon has standard front and rear stabilizer bars, which help keep the Yukon flat and controlled during cornering. The LX base model’s suspension doesn’t offer a rear stabilizer bar.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Yukon’s wheelbase is 8.7 inches longer than on the LX (120.9 inches vs. 112.2 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Yukon is 2.4 inches wider in the front and 2 inches wider in the rear than on the LX.

For better maneuverability, the Yukon’s turning circle is 1.3 feet tighter than the LX’s (38.1 feet vs. 39.4 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Yukon has a greater minimum ground clearance than the LX Base/Premium (8 vs. 7.9 inches), allowing the Yukon to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The Yukon AT4 Air Ride’s minimum ground clearance is 1.7 inches higher than on the LX Luxury/Ultra Luxury/F Sport (10 vs. 8.3 inches).

The front grille of the Yukon (except Diesel) uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The LX doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The Yukon offers optional seating for 9 passengers; the LX can only carry up to 8.

The Yukon’s cargo area provides more volume than the LX.

The Yukon’s available rear seats fold to accommodate long and bulky cargo. The LX Ultra Luxury doesn’t offer folding rear seats, only a ski pass-through.

The Yukon 4WD with optional equipment can be flat towed on all four wheels (dinghy towed), allowing recreational vehicle owners to bring it with them on the road. When they reach their destination, the Yukon can be unhitched and driven around locally. The LX can’t be towed flat on the ground.

The Yukon Denali Ultimate has standard massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the LX.

The Yukon Denali’s optional Enhanced Automatic Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. The LX doesn’t offer an automated parking system.

The Yukon is available in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The LX doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
