Tires and Wheels
The Bolt EUV’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the RZ’s standard 60 series front and 55 series rear tires.
The Bolt EUV has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The RZ doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.
Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires standard on the Bolt EUV can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The RZ doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.
Chassis
The Chevrolet Bolt EUV may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 900 pounds less than the Lexus RZ.
The Bolt EUV is 1 foot, 7.7 inches shorter than the RZ, making the Bolt EUV easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.
Passenger Space
The Bolt EUV has .1 inches more front headroom, 2.2 inches more front legroom and 1.6 inches more rear legroom than the RZ.
Ergonomics
The power windows standard on both the Bolt EUV and the RZ have locks to prevent small children from operating them. When the lock on the Bolt EUV is engaged the driver can still operate all of the windows, for instance to close one opened by a child. The RZ prevents the driver from operating the other windows just as it does the other passengers.
To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Bolt EUV has a standard rear wiper. The RZ doesn’t offer a rear wiper.
Recommendations
A group of representative automotive journalists from North America selected the Bolt as the 2017 North American Car of the Year. The RZ has never been chosen.
