The Cadillac Lyriq has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Mustang Mach-E doesn’t offer a front passenger side knee airbag.

The Lyriq’s standard pretensioning seatbelts also sense rear collisions and remove slack from the front seatbelts to help protect the occupants from whiplash and other injuries. The Mustang Mach-E doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

Both the Lyriq and the Mustang Mach-E have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras and rear cross-path warning.

The Cadillac Lyriq weighs 648 to 1444 pounds more than the Ford Mustang Mach-E. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

The Lyriq comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck. The Mustang Mach-E’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 14,000 miles sooner.

Cadillac’s powertrain warranty covers the Lyriq 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Ford covers the Mustang Mach-E. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 6 years or 70,000 miles. Coverage on the Mustang Mach-E ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

The Lyriq’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the Mustang Mach-E’s (6 vs. 5 years).

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Cadillac vehicles are better in initial quality than Ford vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Cadillac above average in initial quality. With 4 more problems per 100 vehicles, Ford is rated lower.

J.D. Power ranks Cadillac above average in long-term dependability. With 24 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, Ford is rated lower.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2023 Auto Issue reports that Cadillac vehicles are more reliable than Ford vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Cadillac 1 place higher in reliability than Ford.

The Lyriq’s standard front and rear disc brakes are vented to help dissipate heat for shorter stops with less fading. The rear discs on the Mustang Mach-E are solid, not vented.

For better traction, the Lyriq has larger standard tires than the Mustang Mach-E (265/50R20 vs. 225/60R18). The Lyriq’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Mustang Mach-E (275/40R22 vs. 245/45R20).

The Lyriq’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Mustang Mach-E’s standard 60 series tires. The Lyriq’s optional tires have a lower 40 series profile than the Mustang Mach-E GT’s 45 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Lyriq has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the Mustang Mach-E. The Lyriq’s optional 22-inch wheels are larger than the 20-inch wheels on the Mustang Mach-E GT.

The Cadillac Lyriq’s wheels have 6 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The Ford Mustang Mach-E only has 5 wheel lugs per wheel.

Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires standard on the Lyriq can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The Mustang Mach-E doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Lyriq’s wheelbase is 4.3 inches longer than on the Mustang Mach-E (121.8 inches vs. 117.5 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Lyriq is 2.4 inches wider in the front and 2.5 inches wider in the rear than on the Mustang Mach-E.

For greater off-road capability the Lyriq has a 1.2 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the Mustang Mach-E (7 vs. 5.8 inches), allowing the Lyriq to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The Lyriq uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Mustang Mach-E doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The Lyriq has 1 inch more front legroom, 1.1 inches more front hip room, 1.3 inches more front shoulder room, 1.5 inches more rear legroom, .8 inches more rear hip room and 2.7 inches more rear shoulder room than the Mustang Mach-E.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Lyriq’s rear seats recline. The Mustang Mach-E’s rear seats don’t recline.

Pressing a switch automatically lowers the Lyriq’s rear seats, to make changing between passengers and cargo easier. The Mustang Mach-E doesn’t offer automatic folding seats.

The Lyriq offers up to a 3500 lbs. towing capacity. The Mustang Mach-E has no towing capacity.

Standard Trailer Sway Control on the Lyriq uses the StabiliTrak® sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The Mustang Mach-E doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Cadillac service is better than Ford. J.D. Power ranks Cadillac second in service department satisfaction. With a 42% lower rating, Ford is ranked 22nd.

To help drivers avoid possible obstacles, the Lyriq has standard cornering lights to illuminate around corners when the turn signals are activated. The Mustang Mach-E doesn’t offer cornering lights. The Lyriq also has standard adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle.

When the Lyriq is put in reverse, both rearview mirrors tilt from their original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirrors into their original positions. The Mustang Mach-E’s mirrors don’t automatically adjust for backing.

The Lyriq’s standard rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The Mustang Mach-E has an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

Standard air-conditioned seats in the Lyriq keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in Summer. The Mustang Mach-E doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

The Lyriq has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel is only available on the Mustang Mach-E Premium/CA RT 1/GT.

The Lyriq has standard massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the Mustang Mach-E.

The Lyriq has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Mustang Mach-E doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The Lyriq’s Enhanced Automatic Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Auto Parking will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The Mustang Mach-E’s automatic parking system does not offer parking by remote control.
