Compare the2023 Cadillac CT4VS 2023 Jaguar XF

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the CT4 are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The XF doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

The Cadillac CT4 has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The XF doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The CT4’s standard pretensioning seatbelts also sense rear collisions and remove slack from the front seatbelts to help protect the occupants from whiplash and other injuries. The XF doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The CT4 Premium Luxury/Sport has standard Reverse Automatic Braking that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The XF doesn’t offer automatic braking for stationary objects directly to the rear.

Both the CT4 and the XF have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, available all wheel drive and around view monitors.

Cadillac’s powertrain warranty covers the CT4 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Jaguar covers the XF. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 6 years or 70,000 miles. Coverage on the XF ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

There are almost 3 times as many Cadillac dealers as there are Jaguar dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the CT4’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Cadillac vehicles are better in initial quality than Jaguar vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Cadillac above average in initial quality. With 47 more problems per 100 vehicles, Jaguar is rated below average.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Cadillac vehicles are more reliable than Jaguar vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Cadillac above average in long-term dependability. With 24 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, Jaguar is rated below average.

The CT4’s optional 2.7 turbo 4-cylinder produces 14 more horsepower (310 vs. 296) and 55 lbs.-ft. more torque (350 vs. 295) than the XF P300’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder.

On the EPA test cycle the CT4 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder AWD gets better fuel mileage than the XF P300 AWD (22 city/31 hwy vs. 22 city/30 hwy).

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the CT4’s fuel efficiency. The XF doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

The CT4 has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The XF doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

A 10-speed automatic is standard on the Cadillac CT4 2.7 turbo 4-cylinder, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only an eight-speed automatic is available for the XF.

The CT4 has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The XF doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires available on the CT4 can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The XF doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.

For better maneuverability, the CT4’s turning circle is 1.1 feet tighter than the XF’s (37.1 feet vs. 38.2 feet). The CT4 AWD’s turning circle is .2 feet tighter than the XF’s (38 feet vs. 38.2 feet).

The Cadillac CT4 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 100 to 250 pounds less than the Jaguar XF.

The CT4 is 8.2 inches shorter than the XF, making the CT4 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The CT4 is 6.6 inches narrower than the XF, making the CT4 easier to handle and maneuver in traffic.

The front grille of the CT4 Premium Luxury uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The XF doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The CT4 has .8 inches more front headroom and .9 inches more front legroom than the XF.

The CT4 has a larger trunk than the XF Sedan (10.7 vs. 10.1 cubic feet).

The CT4 has a 1000 lbs. towing capacity. The XF has no towing capacity.

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Cadillac service is better than Jaguar. J.D. Power ranks Cadillac second in service department satisfaction. With a 22% lower rating, Jaguar is ranked 10th.

To help drivers avoid possible obstacles, the CT4 Premium Luxury/Sport offers optional cornering lights to illuminate around corners when the turn signals are activated. The XF doesn’t offer cornering lights.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the CT4 has standard extendable sun visors. The XF doesn’t offer extendable visors.

Insurance will cost less for the CT4 owner. The Complete Car Cost Guide estimates that insurance for the CT4 will cost $2260 less than the XF over a five-year period.

The CT4 will cost the buyer less in the long run because of its superior resale value. The IntelliChoice estimates that the CT4 will retain 39.41% to 41.44% of its original price after five years, while the XF only retains 32.78% to 33.1%.

IntelliChoice estimates that five-year ownership costs (depreciation, financing, insurance, fuel, fees, repairs and maintenance) for the Cadillac CT4 will be $13954 to $16889 less than for the Jaguar XF.

The Cadillac CT4 outsold the Jaguar XF by almost 11 to one during 2022.
