The Porsche Cayenne Coupe has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Durango SRT doesn’t offer a front passenger side knee airbag.

The Cayenne Coupe has a standard Multi-collision Brake System, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Durango SRT doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the Cayenne Coupe’s standard Porsche Hill Control allows you to creep down safely. The Durango SRT doesn’t offer Porsche Hill Control.

A passive infrared night vision system optional on the Cayenne Coupe helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The Durango SRT doesn’t offer a night vision system.

The Cayenne Coupe offers an optional Surround View to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The Durango SRT only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

Both the Cayenne Coupe and the Durango SRT have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems and rear cross-path warning.

Warranty

The Cayenne Coupe comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Durango SRT’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 14,000 miles sooner.

The Cayenne Coupe’s corrosion warranty is 7 years longer than the Durango SRT’s (12 vs. 5 years).

Reliability

For smoother operation, better efficiency and fewer moving parts, the engines in the Cayenne Coupe have an overhead cam design, rather than the old pushrod design of the engines in the Durango SRT.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Porsche vehicles are more reliable than Dodge vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Porsche above average in long-term dependability. With 30 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, Dodge is rated lower.

Engine

The Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid Coupe’s 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid produces 18 lbs.-ft. more torque (663 vs. 645) than the Durango SRT Hellcat’s optional 6.2 supercharged V8.

As tested in Motor Trend the Cayenne Turbo Coupe 4.0 turbo V8 is faster than the Durango SRT Hellcat 6.2 supercharged V8:

The Cayenne Coupe can travel with zero emissions for 15 to 17 miles (dependent on model). The Durango SRT can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

Regenerative brakes improve the Cayenne Coupe’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The Durango SRT doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

In heavy traffic or at stoplights the Cayenne Coupe’s engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. The engine is automatically restarted when the driver gets ready to move again. If the conditions warrant or the driver wishes, the system can be manually disabled at any time for the duration of a trip. The Durango SRT doesn’t offer an automatic engine start/stop system.

Environmental Friendliness

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Porsche Cayenne Coupe higher (3 to 5 out of 10) than the Dodge Durango SRT (1). This means the Cayenne Coupe produces up to 39 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Durango SRT every 15,000 miles.

The EPA certifies the Porsche Cayenne Coupe as an “Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle” (ULEV). The Dodge Durango SRT is only certified to “Low Emissions Vehicle” (LEV) standards.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the Cayenne Coupe CCB’s brake rotors are larger than those on the Durango SRT:

The Cayenne Coupe offers optional heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The Durango SRT doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

The Cayenne Coupe Turbo has standard air brakes, which adjust the spoiler automatically during high-speed braking in order to shorten stopping distances. The Durango SRT doesn’t offer air brakes.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction and acceleration, the Cayenne Coupe has larger standard rear tires than the Durango SRT (305/40R20 vs. 295/45R20). The Cayenne Coupe’s optional rear tires are larger than the largest rear tires available on the Durango SRT (315/35R21 vs. 295/45R20).

The Cayenne Coupe’s standard 305/40R20 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Durango SRT’s standard 45 series tires. The Cayenne Coupe’s optional 285/35R22 front and 315/30R22 rear tires have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile than the Durango SRT’s 45 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Cayenne Coupe offers optional 22-inch wheels. The Durango SRT’s largest wheels are only 20-inches.

Suspension and Handling

The Cayenne Coupe offers active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The Durango SRT doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

The Cayenne Coupe offers an available adjustable active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Dodge doesn’t offer an active suspension on the Durango SRT.

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the Cayenne Coupe is 1.7 inches wider in the front and 1.4 inches wider in the rear than the track on the Durango SRT.

The Cayenne Turbo GT handles at 1.03 G’s, while the Durango SRT pulls only .87 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The Cayenne Turbo Coupe executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1.4 seconds quicker than the Durango SRT 392 (24.1 seconds @ .82 average G’s vs. 25.5 seconds @ .75 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the Cayenne Coupe w/Rear Wheel Steering’s turning circle is 5.9 feet tighter than the Durango SRT’s (35.1 feet vs. 41 feet). The Cayenne Coupe’s turning circle is 1.2 feet tighter than the Durango SRT’s (39.8 feet vs. 41 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Cayenne Coupe has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Durango SRT (8.2 vs. 7.8 inches), allowing the Cayenne Coupe to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The Cayenne Coupe Air Suspension’s minimum ground clearance is 1.8 inches higher than on the Durango SRT (9.6 vs. 7.8 inches).

Chassis

The Porsche Cayenne Coupe may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 50 to 700 pounds less than the Dodge Durango SRT.

The Cayenne Coupe is 6.6 inches shorter than the Durango SRT 392, making the Cayenne Coupe easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Cayenne Coupe is 7.7 inches shorter in height than the Durango SRT, making the Cayenne Coupe much easier to wash and garage and drive (lower center of gravity).

The front grille of the Cayenne Coupe uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The Durango SRT doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

As tested by Car and Driver, the interior of the Cayenne Turbo GT is quieter than the Durango SRT 392:

Passenger Space

The Cayenne Coupe has .8 inches more front legroom, .6 inches more front shoulder room and 1.4 inches more rear legroom than the Durango SRT.

Cargo Capacity

The Cayenne Coupe has a much larger cargo volume than the Durango SRT with its rear seat up (22 vs. 17.2 cubic feet).

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Cayenne Coupe’s available liftgate can be opened and closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Durango SRT doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its liftgate, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

Servicing Ease

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Porsche service is better than Dodge. J.D. Power ranks Porsche third in service department satisfaction. With a 39% lower rating, Dodge is ranked 21st.

Ergonomics

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the Durango SRT, the Cayenne Coupe offers an optional driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position, outside mirror angle and climate settings and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The Cayenne Coupe offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed, tachometer, warning and navigation instruction readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Durango SRT doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

The Cayenne Coupe’s power parking brake sets with one touch and releases with one touch. The Durango SRT

The Cayenne Coupe’s front and rear power windows all open or close fully with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside the car. The Durango SRT’s rear power window switches have to be held the entire time to open or close them fully.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Cayenne Coupe offers available headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The Durango SRT doesn’t offer headlight washers.

To help drivers see further while navigating curves, the Cayenne Coupe offers optional adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle. The Durango SRT doesn’t offer cornering lights.

To better shield the driver and front passenger’s vision, the Cayenne Coupe has standard dual-element sun visors that can block glare from two directions simultaneously. The Durango SRT doesn’t offer secondary sun visors.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the Cayenne Coupe to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The Durango SRT doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

The Cayenne Coupe offers optional massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the Durango SRT.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Porsche Cayenne offers an optional wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. The Durango SRT doesn’t offer wireless personal charging.

The Cayenne Coupe’s optional Active Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Park Assist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The Durango SRT doesn’t offer an automated parking system.

Consumer Reports® recommends the Porsche Cayenne Coupe, based on reliability, safety and performance.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Cayenne Coupe third among upper midsize premium suvs in owner reported satisfaction. This includes how well the vehicle performs and satisfies its owner’s expectations. The Durango SRT isn’t in the top three.
