Safety

The Porsche Cayenne Coupe has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Bentayga doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The Cayenne Coupe has a standard Multi-collision Brake System, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Bentayga doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

Both the Cayenne Coupe and the Bentayga have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available night vision systems, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

Warranty

The Cayenne Coupe comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Bentayga’s 3-year basic warranty expires 1 year sooner.

The Cayenne Coupe’s corrosion warranty is 9 years longer than the Bentayga’s (12 vs. 3 years).

There are over 4 times as many Porsche dealers as there are Bentley dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Cayenne Coupe’s warranty.

Reliability

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the Cayenne Coupe’s reliability 20 points higher than the Bentayga.

Engine

The Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid Coupe’s 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid produces 44 more horsepower (670 vs. 626) than the Bentayga SPEED’s optional 6.0 turbo 12-cylinder.

Fuel Economy and Range

On the EPA test cycle the Cayenne Coupe running its gasoline engine gets better mileage than the Bentayga running its gasoline engine:

Regardless of its engine, regenerative brakes improve the Cayenne Coupe’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. Bentley only offers a regenerative brake system on the Bentayga Hybrid.

The Cayenne Coupe’s standard fuel tank has 1.2 gallons more fuel capacity than the Bentayga’s standard fuel tank (23.7 vs. 22.5 gallons).

Environmental Friendliness

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certifies the Porsche Cayenne Coupe as an “Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle” (ULEV). The Bentley Bentayga is only certified to “Low Emissions Vehicle” (LEV) standards.

Transmission

The Cayenne Coupe’s optional launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The Bentayga doesn’t offer launch control.

Brakes and Stopping

The Cayenne Coupe Turbo has standard air brakes, which adjust the spoiler automatically during high-speed braking in order to shorten stopping distances. The Bentayga doesn’t offer air brakes.

The Cayenne Coupe stops much shorter than the Bentayga:

Tires and Wheels

For better traction and acceleration, the Cayenne Coupe has larger standard rear tires than the Bentayga (305/40R20 vs. 285/45R21). The Cayenne Coupe’s optional rear tires are larger than the largest rear tires available on the Bentayga (315/35R21 vs. 285/45R21).

The Cayenne Coupe’s standard 305/40R20 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Bentayga’s standard 45 series tires. The Cayenne Coupe’s optional 285/35R22 front and 315/30R22 rear tires have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile than the Bentayga’s optional 40 series tires.

Suspension and Handling

The Cayenne Turbo GT handles at 1.03 G’s, while the Bentayga pulls only .78 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The Cayenne Turbo Coupe executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1.5 seconds quicker than the Bentayga (24.1 seconds @ .82 average G’s vs. 25.6 seconds @ .74 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the Cayenne Turbo GT’s turning circle is 1 foot tighter than the Bentayga SPEED’s (37.7 feet vs. 38.7 feet).

Chassis

The Porsche Cayenne Coupe may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 150 to 650 pounds less than the Bentley Bentayga.

The Cayenne Coupe is 7.6 inches shorter than the Bentayga V8, making the Cayenne Coupe easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The front grille of the Cayenne Coupe uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The Bentayga doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

Cargo Capacity

The Cayenne Coupe has a much larger cargo volume than the Bentayga with its rear seat up (22 vs. 7.5 cubic feet).

The Cayenne Coupe’s standard rear seats fold to accommodate long and bulky cargo. The Bentayga w/Four Seat Comfort Specification doesn’t offer folding rear seats, only a ski pass-through.

Towing

The Cayenne Coupe’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Bentayga’s (7700 vs. 7165 pounds).

A trailer sway control is standard on all models of the Cayenne Coupe, using the Porsche Stability Management sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The Bentayga Hybrid doesn’t offer a trailer sway program.

Ergonomics

The Cayenne Coupe’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The Bentayga does not have an oil pressure gauge.

The Cayenne Coupe’s optional Active Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Park Assist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The Bentayga’s automatic parking system requires operating the brakes and transmission to safely park and it doesn’t offer remote control parking.

Recommendations

Consumer Reports® recommends the Porsche Cayenne Coupe, based on reliability, safety and performance.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Cayenne Coupe third among upper midsize premium suvs in owner reported satisfaction. This includes how well the vehicle performs and satisfies its owner’s expectations. The Bentayga isn’t in the top three.

The Porsche Cayenne outsold the Bentley Bentayga by almost 10 to one during 2022.
