For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Mercedes EQE Sedan are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The BMW i7 doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

Both the EQE Sedan and the i7 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

Engine

The EQE 350 4MATIC’s standard electric motors produces 15 lbs.-ft. more torque (564 vs. 549) than the i7’s electric motors. The EQE 500 4MATIC’s standard electric motors produces 84 lbs.-ft. more torque (633 vs. 549) than the i7’s electric motors.

On the EPA test cycle the EQE Sedan gets better mileage than the i7:

Tires and Wheels

The EQE Sedan’s optional 255/35R21 front and 285/30R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the i7’s optional 40 series front and 35 series rear tires.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires available on the EQE Sedan can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The i7 doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

Suspension and Handling

The EQE Sedan’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The i7 doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For better maneuverability, the EQE Sedan w/Rear Wheel Steering’s turning circle is 5.3 feet tighter than the i7’s (35.1 feet vs. 40.4 feet).

Chassis

The Mercedes EQE Sedan may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 500 to 750 pounds less than the BMW i7.

The EQE Sedan is 1 foot, 3.3 inches shorter than the i7, making the EQE Sedan easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

Passenger Space

The EQE Sedan has .3 inches more front headroom and .5 inches more front legroom than the i7.

Cargo Capacity

The EQE Sedan’s standard rear seats fold to accommodate long and bulky cargo. The i7 doesn’t offer folding rear seats, only a ski pass-through.

Ergonomics

Heated windshield washer fluid is optional on the EQE Sedan to defrost the washer nozzles and quickly clear ice and frost from the windshield without scraping. The i7 doesn’t offer heated windshield washer fluid.

Model Availability

The EQE Sedan is available in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. The i7 doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
