Safety
Warranty
The Roma comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The R8’s 50,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.
Ferrari pays for scheduled maintenance on the Roma for 7 years and unlimited miles. Ferrari will pay for oil changes, lubrication and any other required maintenance. Audi only pays for the first scheduled maintenance visit on the R8.
Reliability
The R8’s redline is at 8700 RPM, which causes more engine wear, and a greater chance of a catastrophic engine failure. The Roma has a 7500 RPM redline.
Engine
The Roma’s 3.9 turbo V8 produces 50 more horsepower (612 vs. 562) and 155 lbs.-ft. more torque (561 vs. 406) than the R8 RWD Performance’s standard 5.2 DOHC V10. The Roma’s 3.9 turbo V8 produces 10 more horsepower (612 vs. 602) and 148 lbs.-ft. more torque (561 vs. 413) than the R8 Quattro/GT’s standard 5.2 DOHC V10.

Environmental Friendliness
In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Ferrari Roma higher (6 out of 10) than the Audi R8 (1). This means the Roma produces up to 45.9 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the R8 every 15,000 miles.
Transmission
An eight-speed automatic (SMG) is standard on the Ferrari Roma, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a seven-speed automatic is available for the R8.
Brakes and Stopping
For better stopping power the Roma’s brake rotors are larger than those on the R8:

Suspension and Handling
The Roma has a standard driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads. The R8’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.
For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Roma is .2 inches wider in the front and 3.1 inches wider in the rear than on the R8.
For better maneuverability, the Roma’s turning circle is 1.3 feet tighter than the R8’s (35.4 feet vs. 36.7 feet).
Passenger Space
The Roma has standard seating for 4 passengers; the R8 can only carry 2.
The Roma has 30 cubic feet more passenger volume than the R8 (80 vs. 50).
Cargo Capacity
The Roma has a much larger trunk than the R8 Coupe (10.3 vs. 4 cubic feet).
Ergonomics
The Roma’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The R8 doesn’t offer an easy entry system.
The Roma’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The R8 does not have an oil pressure gauge.
The Roma’s standard dual zone air conditioning allows the driver and front passenger to choose two completely different temperatures so people with different temperature preferences won’t have to compromise. This makes both the driver and front passenger as comfortable as possible. The R8 doesn’t offer dual zone air conditioning.
