Compare the2023 Ferrari F8 VS 2022 McLaren 720S

Using vehicle speed sensors and seat sensors, smart airbags in the F8 deploy with different levels of force or don’t deploy at all to help better protect passengers of all sizes in different collisions. The F8’s side airbags will shut off if a child is leaning against the door. The 720S’ side airbags don’t have smart features and will always deploy full force.

Both the F8 and the 720S have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and available rearview cameras.

Ferrari pays for scheduled maintenance on the F8 for 7 years and unlimited miles. Ferrari will pay for oil changes, lubrication and any other required maintenance. McLaren doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the 720S.

The F8 has 3.7 gallons more fuel capacity than the 720S (22.7 vs. 19 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

For better stopping power the F8’s front brake rotors are larger than those on the 720S:

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the F8 has standard 20-inch wheels. Only 19-inch front wheels are available on the 720S.

The F8 offers an optional space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the 720S; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

For better maneuverability, the F8’s turning circle is 1 foot tighter than the 720S’ (38.7 feet vs. 39.7 feet).

The F8’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The 720S does not have an oil pressure gauge.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The F8 has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The 720S doesn’t offer headlight washers.

To help drivers see further while navigating curves, the F8 offers optional adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle. The 720S doesn’t offer cornering lights.

The F8’s power mirror controls are mounted on the door for easy access. The 720S’ power mirror controls are on the dash where they are possibly hidden by the steering wheel and are awkward to manipulate.

The F8’s optional rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The 720S has an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

To help keep the driver’s hands on the wheel, the F8 has standard steering wheel controls for the radio. The 720S doesn’t offer steering wheel audio controls.

Standard smartphone integration for the F8 allows the driver and passengers access to select programs on their smartphones, including reading text messages aloud, playing internet radio stations and other connected activities without taking their eyes off the road or their hands from the wheel. The 720S doesn’t offer factory integrated smartphone program access.
