Compare the2023 Ferrari F8 VS 2023 Nissan GT-R

Using vehicle speed sensors and seat sensors, smart airbags in the F8 deploy with different levels of force or don’t deploy at all to help better protect passengers of all sizes in different collisions. The F8’s side airbags will shut off if a child is leaning against the door. The GT-R’s side airbags don’t have smart features and will always deploy full force.

Both the F8 and the GT-R have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, rear parking sensors and available rearview cameras.

The F8 comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The GT-R’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.

Ferrari pays for scheduled maintenance on the F8 for 7 years and unlimited miles. Ferrari will pay for oil changes, lubrication and any other required maintenance. Nissan doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the GT-R.

The F8’s 3.9 turbo V8 produces 145 more horsepower (710 vs. 565) and 100 lbs.-ft. more torque (567 vs. 467) than the GT-R’s standard 3.8 turbo V6. The F8’s 3.9 turbo V8 produces 110 more horsepower (710 vs. 600) and 86 lbs.-ft. more torque (567 vs. 481) than the GT-R NISMO’s standard 3.8 turbo V6.

In heavy traffic or at stoplights the F8’s engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. The engine is automatically restarted when the driver gets ready to move again. The GT-R doesn’t offer an automatic engine start/stop system.

The F8 has 3.2 gallons more fuel capacity than the GT-R (22.7 vs. 19.5 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

A seven-speed automatic (SMG) is standard on the Ferrari F8, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a six-speed automatic is available for the GT-R.

For better stopping power the F8’s standard front brake rotors are larger than those on the GT-R:

The F8’s brakes have 25% more swept area (the area covered by the brake pads) than the GT-R (898.7 vs. 719 square inches), so the F8 has more braking power available.

For better traction and acceleration, the F8 has larger rear tires than the GT-R (305/30R20 vs. 285/35R20).

The F8’s 245/35R20 front and 305/30R20 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the GT-R’s standard 40 series front and 35 series rear tires.

The F8 offers an optional space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the GT-R; it requires you to depend on its run-flat tires, which limits mileage and speed before they are repaired. If a run-flat is damaged beyond repair by a road hazard your vehicle will have to be towed.

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the F8 is 3.2 inches wider in the front and 1.8 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the GT-R.

The F8 Tributo handles at 1.06 G’s, while the GT-R Premium pulls only .98 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The F8 Tributo executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver quicker than the GT-R Premium (22.8 seconds @ .93 average G’s vs. 23.6 seconds @ .79 average G’s).

The Ferrari F8 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 700 to 750 pounds less than the Nissan GT-R.

The F8 is 3.1 inches shorter than the GT-R Premium, making the F8 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The F8’s standard power retractable hardtop allows a seamless transition from an open car, to a completely sealed coupe. The GT-R doesn’t offer a retractable hardtop.

The F8 uses gas struts to support the hood for easier service access. The GT-R uses a prop rod to support its heavy hood. It takes two hands to open the hood and set the prop rod, the prop rod gets in the way during maintenance and service, and the prop rod could be knocked out, causing the heavy hood to fall on the person maintaining or servicing the car.

When three different drivers share the F8, the optional memory system makes it convenient for all three. Each setting activates different, customized memories for the driver’s seat position, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle. The GT-R doesn’t offer a memory system.

The F8’s power parking brake sets with one touch and releases with one touch or automatically. The GT-R has a lever-type parking brake that has to be strenuously raised to engage properly. It has to be lifted up more and a button depressed to release it.

The F8’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The GT-R’s intermittent wipers change speed with vehicle speed, but can’t turn on and off or change speed based on changing rainfall.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The F8 has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The GT-R doesn’t offer headlight washers.

To help drivers see further while navigating curves, the F8 offers optional adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle. The GT-R doesn’t offer cornering lights.

The F8’s power mirror controls are mounted on the door for easy access. The GT-R’s power mirror controls are on the dash where they are possibly hidden by the steering wheel and are awkward to manipulate.

When the F8 with available tilt-down mirrors is put in reverse, the passenger rearview mirror tilts from its original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirror into its original position. The GT-R’s mirror doesn’t automatically adjust for backing.

The F8’s optional rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The GT-R has an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

The Ferrari F8 comes in coupe and convertible bodystyles; the Nissan GT-R isn’t available as a convertible.
