Using vehicle speed sensors and seat sensors, smart airbags in the F8 deploy with different levels of force or don’t deploy at all to help better protect passengers of all sizes in different collisions. The F8’s side airbags will shut off if a child is leaning against the door. The Corvette’s side airbags don’t have smart features and will always deploy full force.

The F8 has standard parking sensors to help warn the driver about vehicles, pedestrians or other obstacles behind or, optionally, in front of the vehicle. The Corvette doesn’t offer a front parking aid.

Both the F8 and the Corvette have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and rear parking sensors.

The F8 comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The Corvette’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.

The F8’s corrosion warranty is unlimited miles longer than the Corvette’s (unlimited vs. 100,000 miles).

Ferrari pays for scheduled maintenance on the F8 for 7 years and unlimited miles. Ferrari will pay for oil changes, lubrication and any other required maintenance. Chevrolet only pays for the first scheduled maintenance visit on the Corvette.

For smoother operation, better efficiency and fewer moving parts, the F8 has an overhead cam design, rather than the old pushrod design of some of the engines in the Corvette.

The F8’s 3.9 turbo V8 produces 220 more horsepower (710 vs. 490) and 102 lbs.-ft. more torque (567 vs. 465) than the Corvette’s standard 6.2 V8. The F8’s 3.9 turbo V8 produces 215 more horsepower (710 vs. 495) and 97 lbs.-ft. more torque (567 vs. 470) than the Corvette Z51’s standard 6.2 V8. The F8’s 3.9 turbo V8 produces 40 more horsepower (710 vs. 670) and 107 lbs.-ft. more torque (567 vs. 460) than the Corvette Z06’s standard 5.5 DOHC V8.

As tested in Motor Trend the Ferrari F8 is faster than the Corvette Z51 6.2 V8:

In a Motor Trend race course test, the Ferrari F8 Tributo was clocked 5.56 seconds faster than the Chevrolet Corvette Coupe (92.27 sec. vs. 97.83 sec.).

On the EPA test cycle the F8 Tributo gets better mileage than the Corvette:

On the EPA test cycle the F8 Spider gets better fuel mileage than the Corvette Z06 Carbon Aero 5.5 DOHC V8 (15 city/18 hwy vs. 12 city/19 hwy).

In heavy traffic or at stoplights the F8’s engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. The engine is automatically restarted when the driver gets ready to move again. The Corvette doesn’t offer an automatic engine start/stop system.

The F8 has 4.2 gallons more fuel capacity than the Corvette (22.7 vs. 18.5 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

For better stopping power the F8’s brake rotors are larger than those on the Corvette:

The F8’s brakes have 40% more swept area (the area covered by the brake pads) than the Corvette (898.7 vs. 640 square inches), so the F8 has more braking power available.

The F8 stops much shorter than the Corvette:

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the F8 has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch front wheels are standard on the Corvette.

The F8 offers an optional space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the Corvette; it requires you to depend on its run-flat tires, which limits mileage and speed before they are repaired. If a run-flat is damaged beyond repair by a road hazard your vehicle will have to be towed. Some tire options on the Corvette don’t have a run-flat feature, either.

The Ferrari F8 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 250 to 550 pounds less than the Chevrolet Corvette.

The design of the Ferrari F8 amounts to more than styling. The F8 has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .292 Cd. That is lower than the Corvette (.32). A more efficient exterior helps the F8 go faster and keeps the interior quieter. It also helps the F8 get better fuel mileage.

With its coupe body style and remote trunk release lockout, the F8 offers cargo security. The Corvette’s non-lockable remote release defeats cargo security.

The F8’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Corvette’s manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The F8 has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The Corvette doesn’t offer headlight washers.

To help drivers see further while navigating curves, the F8 offers optional adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle. The Corvette doesn’t offer cornering lights.
