Both the 812 and the Aventador have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and available rearview cameras.

Safety
Warranty
Ferrari pays for scheduled maintenance on the 812 for 7 years and unlimited miles. Ferrari will pay for oil changes, lubrication and any other required maintenance. Lamborghini doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the Aventador.
Reliability
To reliably power the ignition and other systems and to recharge the battery, the 812 has a standard 200-amp alternator. The Aventador’s 190-amp alternator isn’t as powerful.
Engine
The 812’s 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 30 more horsepower (789 vs. 759) than the Aventador SVJ’s standard 6.5 DOHC V12. The 812’s 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 20 more horsepower (789 vs. 769) than the Aventador Ultimae’s standard 6.5 DOHC V12.
Fuel Economy and Range
On the EPA test cycle the 812 GTS gets better fuel mileage than the Aventador SVJ Roadster with its standard engine (12 city/15 hwy vs. 9 city/16 hwy).
The 812 has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The Aventador doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.
Environmental Friendliness
In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Ferrari 812 higher (3 out of 10) than the Lamborghini Aventador (1). This means the 812 produces up to 22.5 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Aventador every 15,000 miles.
Tires and Wheels
For better traction, the 812 has larger front tires than the Aventador (275/35R20 vs. 255/30R20).
The 812 offers an optional space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the Aventador; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.
Suspension and Handling
The 812 offers an optional automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Aventador doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.
The 812’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (47% to 53%) than the Aventador’s (43% to 57%). This gives the 812 more stable handling and braking.
Chassis
The 812 is 6.9 inches shorter than the Aventador Ultimae, making the 812 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.
The design of the Ferrari 812 amounts to more than styling. The 812 has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .288 Cd. That is significantly lower than the Aventador (.33) and many sports cars. A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the 812 get better fuel mileage.
The 812’s standard power retractable hardtop allows a seamless transition from an open car, to a completely sealed coupe. The Aventador doesn’t offer a retractable hardtop.
Passenger Space
The 812 has .8 inches more front headroom and .7 inches more front legroom than the Aventador.
Cargo Capacity
The 812 GTS has a much larger trunk with its top down than the Aventador Roadster (7.42 vs. 5.2 cubic feet).
Servicing Ease
A maintenance reminder system is standard on the 812 to save the owner time and money by calculating maintenance intervals based on odometer mileage. This takes the guesswork out of keeping your vehicle in top condition and helps it last longer. Lamborghini doesn’t offer a maintenance reminder on the Aventador.
Ergonomics
When three different drivers share the 812, the optional memory system makes it convenient for all three. Each setting activates different, customized memories for the driver’s seat position, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle. The Aventador doesn’t offer a memory system.
The 812’s LED headlights produce a white, bright light using less electricity than the Aventador’s xenon high intensity discharge (HID) headlights. HID headlights can be slow to reach full brightness or power cycle, causing issues when flashing them to signal other vehicles; LED headlights light instantly. LED lights also last about three to four times as long.
To help drivers see further while navigating curves, the 812 offers optional adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle. The Aventador doesn’t offer cornering lights.
The 812’s sun-visors swivel front-to-side to block glare from the side windows. The Aventador’s visors are fixed into the windshield header.
When the 812 with available tilt-down mirrors is put in reverse, the passenger rearview mirror tilts from its original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirror into its original position. The Aventador’s mirror doesn’t automatically adjust for backing.
The 812’s standard dual zone air conditioning allows the driver and front passenger to choose two completely different temperatures so people with different temperature preferences won’t have to compromise. This makes both the driver and front passenger as comfortable as possible. The Aventador doesn’t offer dual zone air conditioning.
