Compare the2023 Ferrari 812VS 2023 Maserati MC20

Both the 812 and the MC20 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, front and rear parking sensors and available rearview cameras.

The 812 comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The MC20’s 50,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.

The 812’s corrosion warranty is unlimited miles longer than the MC20’s (unlimited vs. 50,000 miles).

Ferrari pays for scheduled maintenance on the 812 for 7 years and unlimited miles. Ferrari will pay for oil changes, lubrication and any other required maintenance. Maserati doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the MC20.

The 812’s 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 168 more horsepower (789 vs. 621) than the MC20’s 3.0 turbo V6.

In heavy traffic or at stoplights the 812’s engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. The engine is automatically restarted when the driver gets ready to move again. The MC20 doesn’t offer an automatic engine start/stop system.

The 812 has 5.8 gallons more fuel capacity than the MC20 (24.3 vs. 18.5 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

The 812’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (47% to 53%) than the MC20’s (40% to 60%). This gives the 812 more stable handling and braking.

The design of the Ferrari 812 amounts to more than styling. The 812 has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .288 Cd. That is significantly lower than the MC20 (.38 to .39) and many sports cars. A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the 812 get better fuel mileage.

The 812 GTS has a much larger trunk with its top down than the MC20 Cielo (7.42 vs. 5.3 cubic feet).

The 812’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The MC20 has neither an oil pressure gauge nor a temperature gauge.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The 812 has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The MC20 doesn’t offer headlight washers.

To help drivers see further while navigating curves, the 812 offers optional adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle. The MC20 doesn’t offer cornering lights.

The 812’s sun-visors swivel front-to-side to block glare from the side windows. The MC20’s visors are fixed into the windshield header.

When the 812 with available tilt-down mirrors is put in reverse, the passenger rearview mirror tilts from its original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirror into its original position. The MC20’s mirror doesn’t automatically adjust for backing.
