For enhanced safety, the front and rear seat shoulder belts of the Mercedes AMG C-Class Coupe have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers. The BMW 2 Series doesn’t offer pretensioners for its rear seat belts.

The AMG C-Class Coupe’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The 2 Series doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

Using vehicle speed sensors, smart airbags in the AMG C-Class Coupe deploy with different levels of force or don’t deploy at all to help better protect passengers of all sizes in different collisions. The AMG C-Class Coupe’s side airbags will shut off if a child is leaning against the door. The 2 Series’ side airbags don’t have smart features and will always deploy full force.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the AMG C-Class Coupe. But it costs extra on the 2 Series.

Both the AMG C-Class Coupe and the 2 Series have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, driver alert monitors, available lane departure warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

The AMG C-Class Coupe’s 3.0 turbo V6 produces 130 more horsepower (385 vs. 255) and 90 lbs.-ft. more torque (384 vs. 294) than the 230i’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder. The AMG C-Class Coupe’s 3.0 turbo V6 produces 3 more horsepower (385 vs. 382) and 15 lbs.-ft. more torque (384 vs. 369) than the M240i’s standard 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder.

The AMG C-Class Coupe has 3.7 gallons more fuel capacity than the 2 Series (17.4 vs. 13.7 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Mercedes AMG C-Class Coupe higher (5 out of 10) than the BMW 2 Series (3 to 5). This means the AMG C-Class Coupe produces up to 16.5 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the 2 Series every 15,000 miles.

A nine-speed automatic is standard on the Mercedes AMG C-Class Coupe, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only an eight-speed automatic is available for the 2 Series.

For better traction and acceleration, the AMG C-Class Coupe has larger standard rear tires than the 2 Series (245/40R18 vs. 225/45R18).

The AMG C 43 Coupe’s standard 245/40R18 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the 230i’s standard 45 series tires.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires standard on the AMG C-Class Coupe can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. Run-flat tires aren’t available on some tire packages on the 2 Series.

The AMG C-Class Coupe’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The 2 Series doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the AMG C-Class Coupe’s wheelbase is 3.9 inches longer than on the 2 Series (111.8 inches vs. 107.9 inches).

To almost totally eliminate engine vibration in the passenger area, the AMG C-Class Coupe 63 S has an electronically controlled liquid-filled front engine mount. A computer-controlled electric current in the liquid changes its viscosity, allowing the mount to dampen the engine completely at all RPMs. The 2 Series uses conventional solid rubber engine mounts.

The AMG C-Class Coupe has .7 inches more front headroom, .2 inches more front legroom and 2.9 inches more rear headroom than the 2 Series.

The AMG C-Class Coupe has a larger trunk than the 2 Series Coupe (10.5 vs. 10 cubic feet).

To make loading and unloading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the AMG C-Class Coupe’s power trunk can be opened or closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The 2 Series doesn’t offer a power or hands-free opening trunk.

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the 2 Series, the AMG C-Class Coupe has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The AMG C-Class Coupe’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel and glides the driver’s seat back, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The 2 Series doesn’t offer an easy entry system.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the AMG C-Class Coupe has standard extendable sun visors. The 2 Series doesn’t offer extendable visors.

Optional air-conditioned seats in the AMG C-Class Coupe keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in Summer. The 2 Series doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

The Mercedes AMG C-Class comes in coupe, convertible and sedan bodystyles; the BMW 2 Series isn’t available as a convertible or sedan.

The Mercedes C-Class outsold the BMW 2 Series by over two to one during 2022.
