Compare the2023 Porsche TaycanVS 2022 Rolls-Royce Ghost

For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Porsche Taycan are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Rolls-Royce Ghost doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

Both the Taycan and the Ghost have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras, available blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

The Taycan’s corrosion warranty is 8 years longer than the Ghost’s (12 vs. 4 years).

There are over 5 times as many Porsche dealers as there are Rolls-Royce dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Taycan’s warranty.

The Taycan Turbo S’ standard electric motors produces 187 more horsepower (750 vs. 563) and 147 lbs.-ft. more torque (774 vs. 627) than the Ghost’s 6.6 turbo V12.

The Taycan can travel with zero emissions for 206 to 246 miles (dependent on model). The Ghost can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

Regenerative brakes improve the Taycan’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The Ghost doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

The Taycan, as a pure battery electric vehicle, has no need to “idle” its motors in traffic: they only burn power when moving. The Taycan’s climate control systems still work completely when the vehicle is stopped. The Ghost still runs its internal combustion engine whenever it’s stopped, burning excess fuel.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Porsche Taycan higher (10 out of 10) than the Rolls-Royce Ghost (3). This means the Taycan produces up to 36.3 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Ghost every 15,000 miles.

The Taycan’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The Ghost doesn’t offer launch control.

For better stopping power the Taycan Turbo S’ front brake rotors are larger than those on the Ghost:

The Taycan offers optional heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The Ghost doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

The Taycan stops shorter than the Ghost:

For better traction, the Taycan’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Ghost (F:265/35R21 & R:305/30R21 vs. F:255/40R21 & R:285/35R21).

The Taycan’s optional 265/35R21 front and 305/30R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Ghost’s 40 series front and 35 series rear tires.

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the Taycan is 1.2 inches wider in the front than the track on the Ghost.

The Taycan 4S handles at 1.03 G’s, while the Ghost pulls only .90 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The Taycan Turbo S executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1.7 seconds quicker than the Ghost (23.6 seconds @ .87 average G’s vs. 25.3 seconds @ .75 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the Taycan w/Rear Axle Steering’s turning circle is 6 feet tighter than the Ghost’s (36.7 feet vs. 42.7 feet).

The Porsche Taycan may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 450 to 1050 pounds less than the Rolls-Royce Ghost.

The Taycan is 1 foot, 10.9 inches shorter than the Ghost, making the Taycan easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Taycan is 7.6 inches shorter in height than the Ghost, making the Taycan much easier to wash and garage and drive (lower center of gravity).

The front grille of the Taycan uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The Ghost doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The Taycan has a larger trunk with its rear seat up than the Ghost (18.7 vs. 17.9 cubic feet).

The Taycan’s available rear seats fold to accommodate long and bulky cargo. The Ghost doesn’t offer folding rear seats.

The Taycan has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The Ghost doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

The Taycan’s optional Active Parking Support can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Park Assist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The Ghost’s automatic parking system does not offer parking by remote control.

The Porsche Taycan comes in sedan and station wagon bodystyles; the Rolls-Royce Ghost isn’t available as a station wagon.

The Taycan is available in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. The Ghost doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
