The Ghibli Modena’s standard 3.0 turbo V6 produces 169 more horsepower (424 vs. 255) and 111 lbs.-ft. more torque (406 vs. 295) than the C-Class Sedan’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid. The Ghibli Trofeo’s standard 3.8 turbo V8 produces 317 more horsepower (572 vs. 255) and 243 lbs.-ft. more torque (538 vs. 295) than the C-Class Sedan’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid.

The Ghibli has 3.7 gallons more fuel capacity than the C-Class Sedan (21.1 vs. 17.4 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

The Ghibli has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The C-Class Sedan doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

The Ghibli’s optional 245/35R21 front and 285/30R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the C-Class Sedan’s optional 40 series front and 35 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Ghibli has standard 19-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the C-Class Sedan. The Ghibli’s optional 21-inch wheels are larger than the 19-inch wheels optional on the C-Class Sedan.

The Ghibli has a standard space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the C-Class Sedan; it requires you to depend on its run-flat tires, which limits mileage and speed before they are repaired. If a run-flat is damaged beyond repair by a road hazard your vehicle will have to be towed. Some tire options on the C-Class Sedan don’t have a run-flat feature, either.

The Ghibli offers an optional driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads. The C-Class Sedan’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Ghibli’s wheelbase is 5.2 inches longer than on the C-Class Sedan (118 inches vs. 112.8 inches).
