Fuel Economy and Range
The Quattroporte has 3.9 gallons more fuel capacity than the G80 2.5T’s standard fuel tank (21.1 vs. 17.2 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups. The Quattroporte has 1.8 gallons more fuel capacity than the G80 3.5T’s standard fuel tank (21.1 vs. 19.3 gallons).
The Quattroporte has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The G80 doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.
Brakes and Stopping
For better stopping power the Quattroporte’s brake rotors are larger than those on the G80:

The Quattroporte’s standard front and rear disc brakes are vented to help dissipate heat for shorter stops with less fading. The rear discs standard on the G80 2.5T are solid, not vented.
Tires and Wheels
For better traction and acceleration, the Quattroporte has larger rear tires than the G80 (285/35R20 vs. 245/50R18). The Quattroporte’s rear tires are larger than the largest rear tires available on the G80 (285/35R20 vs. 275/40R19).
The Quattroporte’s standard 245/40R20 front and 285/35R20 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series front and 35 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the G80 2.5T Standard’s standard 50 series tires. The Quattroporte’s optional 245/35R21 front and 285/30R21 rear tires have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile than the G80 3.5T Sport Prestige’s optional 40 series front and 35 series rear tires.
For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Quattroporte has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the G80 2.5T Standard. The Quattroporte’s optional 21-inch wheels are larger than the 20-inch wheels optional on the G80 3.5T Sport Prestige.
Suspension and Handling
The Quattroporte’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The G80 doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.
For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Quattroporte’s wheelbase is 6.3 inches longer than on the G80 (124.8 inches vs. 118.5 inches).
The Quattroporte’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (50% to 50%) than the G80’s (52% to 48%). This gives the Quattroporte more stable handling and braking.
Chassis
The front grille of the Quattroporte uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The G80 doesn’t offer active grille shutters.
Passenger Space
Because it has more passenger and cargo room, the EPA rates the Quattroporte a Large car, while the G80 is rated a Mid-size.
The Quattroporte has 10.2 cubic feet more passenger volume than the G80 (114 vs. 103.8).
For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Quattroporte’s available rear seats recline. The G80’s rear seats don’t recline.
Cargo Capacity
The Quattroporte has a much larger trunk than the G80 (18.7 vs. 13.1 cubic feet).
The Quattroporte’s standard rear seats fold to accommodate long and bulky cargo. The G80 doesn’t offer folding rear seats, only a ski pass-through.
Ergonomics
The Quattroporte’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The G80 does not have an oil pressure gauge.
Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the Quattroporte to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The G80 doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.
In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Quattroporte has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The G80 doesn’t offer headlight washers.
To help drivers avoid possible obstacles, the Quattroporte has standard cornering lights to illuminate around corners when the turn signals are activated. The G80 doesn’t offer cornering lights. The Quattroporte also has standard adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle.
Optional air conditioned front and rear seats keep the Quattroporte’s passengers comfortable and take the sting out of hot leather in summer. The G80 doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats in the rear.
To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Maserati Quattroporte has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) on the dashboard. Only the G80 Sport/Sport Prestige offers wireless charging.
The Quattroporte offers an optional 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The G80 doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.
