Both the GT-R and the M8 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and rearview cameras.

Safety
Warranty
Nissan’s powertrain warranty covers the GT-R 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than BMW covers the M8. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Coverage on the M8 ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.
There are over 3 times as many Nissan dealers as there are BMW dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the GT-R’s warranty.
Fuel Economy and Range
On the EPA test cycle the GT-R gets better fuel mileage than the M8 Competition (16 city/22 hwy vs. 15 city/22 hwy).
Transmission
The GT-R offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The M8 doesn’t offer an SMG or a conventional manual transmission.
Brakes and Stopping
For better stopping power the GT-R NISMO’s brake rotors are larger than those on the M8:

Tires and Wheels
Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires standard on the GT-R can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The M8 doesn’t offer run-flat tires.
Suspension and Handling
For better maneuverability, the GT-R NISMO’s turning circle is 1.6 feet tighter than the M8 Competition Coupe’s (37.4 feet vs. 39 feet).
Chassis
The Nissan GT-R may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 450 to 650 pounds less than the BMW M8.
The GT-R Premium is 7.2 inches shorter than the M8 Coupe/Convertible, making the GT-R easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.
The design of the Nissan GT-R amounts to more than styling. The GT-R has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .26 Cd. That is significantly lower than the M8 (.34). A more efficient exterior helps the GT-R go faster and keeps the interior quieter. It also helps the GT-R get better fuel mileage.
The GT-R uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The M8 doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.
Passenger Space
The GT-R has 2.5 inches more front legroom and 3.1 inches more rear shoulder room than the M8 Coupe.
Ergonomics
The GT-R’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The M8 does not have an oil pressure gauge.
The GT-R has a standard center folding armrest for the rear passengers. A center armrest helps make rear passengers more comfortable and it can provide a boundary between children. The M8 doesn’t offer a rear seat center armrest.
