The Lamborghini Urus has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Range Rover doesn’t offer knee airbags.

An active infrared night vision system optional on the Urus helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera and near-infrared lights to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The Range Rover doesn’t offer a night vision system.

Both the Urus and the Range Rover have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, rearview cameras, available lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

The Urus’ 4.0 turbo V8 produces 302 more horsepower (657 vs. 355) and 262 lbs.-ft. more torque (627 vs. 365) than the Range Rover P360’s standard 3.0 turbo/supercharged 6-cylinder hybrid. The Urus’ 4.0 turbo V8 produces 262 more horsepower (657 vs. 395) and 221 lbs.-ft. more torque (627 vs. 406) than the Range Rover P400’s standard 3.0 turbo/supercharged 6-cylinder hybrid. The Urus’ 4.0 turbo V8 produces 139 more horsepower (657 vs. 518) and 166 lbs.-ft. more torque (627 vs. 461) than the Range Rover P525’s standard 5.0 supercharged V8. The Urus’ 4.0 turbo V8 produces 100 more horsepower (657 vs. 557) and 111 lbs.-ft. more torque (627 vs. 516) than the Range Rover SVAutobiography’s standard 5.0 supercharged V8.

On the EPA test cycle the Urus gets better fuel mileage than the Range Rover SVAutobiography LWB (14 city/19 hwy vs. 13 city/19 hwy).

For better stopping power the Urus’ brake rotors are larger than those on the Range Rover:

The Urus has standard heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The Range Rover doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

The Urus stops much shorter than the Range Rover:

For better traction, the Urus has larger standard tires than the Range Rover (F:285/45R21 & R:315/40R21 vs. 235/65R19). The Urus’ optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Range Rover (F:285/35R23 & R:325/30R23 vs. 275/45R21).

The Urus’ standard 285/45R21 front and 315/40R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series front and 40 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Range Rover’s standard 65 series tires. The Urus’ optional 285/35R23 front and 325/30R23 rear tires have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile than the Range Rover’s optional 40 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Urus has standard 21-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the Range Rover. The Urus’ optional 23-inch wheels are larger than the 22-inch wheels optional on the Range Rover.

The Urus S offers an available adjustable active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Land Rover doesn’t offer an active suspension on the Range Rover.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Urus S’ wheelbase is 3.2 inches longer than on the Range Rover (118.2 inches vs. 115 inches).

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the Urus is .5 inches wider in the front and 1.1 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the Range Rover.

The Urus handles at 1.02 G’s, while the Range Rover pulls only .75 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The Urus executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 4.2 seconds quicker than the Range Rover HSE (23.5 seconds @ .87 average G’s vs. 27.7 seconds @ .67 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the Urus’ turning circle is 1.8 feet tighter than the Range Rover’s (38.7 feet vs. 40.5 feet). The Urus’ turning circle is 4.1 feet tighter than the Range Rover LWB’s (38.7 feet vs. 42.8 feet).

The Lamborghini Urus may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 250 to 900 pounds less than the Land Rover Range Rover.

The Urus is 9.8 inches shorter in height than the Range Rover, making the Urus much easier to wash and garage and drive (lower center of gravity).

As tested by Car and Driver, the interior of the Urus is quieter than the Range Rover:

The Urus’ liftgate lifts up in one piece, completely out of the way of loading and unloading, while sheltering the cargo loading area. The Range Rover’s tailgate’s top part raises up, but the bottom part lowers, getting in the way of loading and making an uneven surface for sliding cargo.

The Urus’ power window, power lock and power mirror switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The Range Rover’s power mirror switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

The Urus’ optional Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Park Assist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The Range Rover’s automatic parking system requires operating the brakes and transmission to safely park and it doesn’t offer remote control parking.
