The Lamborghini Urus has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The AMG GLE doesn’t offer a front passenger side knee airbag.

An active infrared night vision system optional on the Urus helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera and near-infrared lights to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The AMG GLE doesn’t offer a night vision system.

Both the Urus and the AMG GLE have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, rearview cameras, available lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

The Urus’ 4.0 turbo V8 produces 228 more horsepower (657 vs. 429) and 243 lbs.-ft. more torque (627 vs. 384) than the AMG GLE 53’s standard 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder hybrid. The Urus’ 4.0 turbo V8 produces 54 more horsepower (657 vs. 603) than the AMG GLE 63 S’ standard 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid.

For better traction, the Urus has larger standard tires than the AMG GLE (F:285/45R21 & R:315/40R21 vs. 275/50R20).

The Urus’ standard 285/45R21 front and 315/40R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series front and 40 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the AMG GLE’s standard 50 series tires. The Urus’ optional 285/35R23 front and 325/30R23 rear tires have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile than the AMG GLE’s optional 40 series front and 35 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Urus has standard 21-inch wheels. Smaller 20-inch wheels are standard on the AMG GLE. The Urus’ optional 23-inch wheels are larger than the 22-inch wheels optional on the AMG GLE.

The Urus handles at 1.02 G’s, while the AMG GLE 63 S pulls only .90 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

For better maneuverability, the Urus’ turning circle is .7 feet tighter than the AMG GLE’s (38.7 feet vs. 39.4 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Urus has a greater minimum ground clearance than the AMG GLE (8.4 vs. 7.5 inches), allowing the Urus to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The Urus’ minimum ground clearance is 2.3 inches higher than on the AMG GLE (9.8 vs. 7.5 inches).

The Lamborghini Urus may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 350 to 600 pounds less than the Mercedes AMG GLE.

The Urus has .4 inches more front headroom and 1.3 inches more front legroom than the AMG GLE.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Urus offers available headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The AMG GLE doesn’t offer headlight washers.

The Urus’ optional Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Park Assist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The AMG GLE’s automatic parking system does not offer parking by remote control.
