The Lamborghini Urus has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Durango SRT doesn’t offer a front passenger side knee airbag.

An active infrared night vision system optional on the Urus helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera and near-infrared lights to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The Durango SRT doesn’t offer a night vision system.

The Urus offers an optional Top View Camera to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The Durango SRT only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

Both the Urus and the Durango SRT have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, rearview cameras, available lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems and rear cross-path warning.

For smoother operation, better efficiency and fewer moving parts, the Urus has an overhead cam design, rather than the old pushrod design of the engine in the Durango SRT.

The Urus’ 4.0 turbo V8 produces 182 more horsepower (657 vs. 475) and 157 lbs.-ft. more torque (627 vs. 470) than the Durango SRT’s 6.4 V8.

As tested in Motor Trend the Lamborghini Urus is faster than the Dodge Durango SRT:

On the EPA test cycle the Urus gets better fuel mileage than the Durango SRT (14 city/19 hwy vs. 13 city/19 hwy).

For better stopping power the Urus’ brake rotors are larger than those on the Durango SRT:

The Urus has standard heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The Durango SRT doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

The Urus stops much shorter than the Durango SRT:

For better traction and acceleration, the Urus has larger standard rear tires than the Durango SRT (315/40R21 vs. 295/45R20). The Urus’ optional rear tires are larger than the largest rear tires available on the Durango SRT (325/30R23 vs. 295/45R20).

The Urus’ standard 315/40R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Durango SRT’s standard 45 series tires. The Urus’ optional 285/35R23 front and 325/30R23 rear tires have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile than the Durango SRT’s 45 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Urus has standard 21-inch wheels. Only 20-inch wheels are available on the Durango SRT. The Urus offers optional 23-inch wheels.

The Urus has active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The Durango SRT doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

The front and rear suspension of the Urus uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the Durango SRT, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The Urus S offers an available adjustable active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Dodge doesn’t offer an active suspension on the Durango SRT.

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the Urus is 2.6 inches wider in the front and 2.6 inches wider in the rear than the track on the Durango SRT.

The Urus handles at 1.02 G’s, while the Durango SRT pulls only .87 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The Urus executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 2 seconds quicker than the Durango SRT 392 (23.5 seconds @ .87 average G’s vs. 25.5 seconds @ .75 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the Urus’ turning circle is 2.3 feet tighter than the Durango SRT’s (38.7 feet vs. 41 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Urus has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Durango SRT (8.4 vs. 7.8 inches), allowing the Urus to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The Urus’ minimum ground clearance is 2 inches higher than on the Durango SRT (9.8 vs. 7.8 inches).

The Lamborghini Urus may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 650 to 850 pounds less than the Dodge Durango SRT.

The Urus is 8.4 inches shorter in height than the Durango SRT, making the Urus much easier to wash and garage and drive (lower center of gravity).

As tested by Car and Driver, the interior of the Urus is quieter than the Durango SRT 392:

The Urus has 1 inch more front headroom, 1.3 inches more front legroom, .4 inches more front shoulder room and 1.4 inches more rear legroom than the Durango SRT.

The Urus has a much larger cargo volume than the Durango SRT with its rear seat up (21.8 vs. 17.2 cubic feet).

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Urus’ available liftgate can be opened just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Durango SRT doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its liftgate, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

The Urus offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed and tachometer readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Durango SRT doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

The Urus’ power parking brake sets with one touch and releases with one touch or automatically. The Durango SRT’s parking brake has to be released manually.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Urus offers available headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The Durango SRT doesn’t offer headlight washers.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the Urus to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The Durango SRT doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

The Urus offers optional massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the Durango SRT.

The Urus’ optional Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Park Assist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The Durango SRT doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
