The Ghost has standard Active Head Restraints, which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the Active Head Restraints system moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. At the same time the pretensioning seatbelts fire, removing slack from the belts. The Taycan doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

The Ghost has standard PostCrash, which automatically apply the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Taycan doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The Ghost has standard Active Park Distance Control that uses rear sensors to monitor and automatically apply the brakes to prevent a rear collision. The Taycan doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Ghost. But it costs extra on the Taycan.

The Ghost has a standard blind spot warning system which uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them. A system to reveal vehicles in the Taycan’s blind spot costs extra.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the Ghost has a standard rear cross-path warning system, which uses sensors in the rear bumper to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side, helping the driver avoid collisions. Rear cross-path warning costs extra on the Taycan.

The Ghost’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Taycan doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the Ghost and the Taycan have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems and rearview cameras.

The Rolls-Royce Ghost weighs 429 to 1060 pounds more than the Porsche Taycan. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

The Ghost comes with a full 4-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Taycan’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.

Rolls-Royce pays for scheduled maintenance on the Ghost for 2 years and -24,000 miles longer than Porsche pays for maintenance for the Taycan (4/unlimited vs. 2/24,000).

The Ghost’s 6.6 turbo V12 produces 161 more horsepower (563 vs. 402) and 373 lbs.-ft. more torque (627 vs. 254) than the Taycan’s standard electric motor. The Ghost’s 6.6 turbo V12 produces 94 more horsepower (563 vs. 469) and 364 lbs.-ft. more torque (627 vs. 263) than the Taycan Performance Plus’ optional electric motor. The Ghost’s 6.6 turbo V12 produces 94 more horsepower (563 vs. 469) and 259 lbs.-ft. more torque (627 vs. 368) than the Taycan Cross Turismo’s standard electric motors.

An eight-speed automatic is standard on the Rolls-Royce Ghost, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a 2-speed automatic is available for the Taycan.

For better traction, the Ghost has larger tires than the Taycan (F:255/40R21 & R:285/35R21 vs. F:225/55R19 & R:275/45R19).

The Ghost’s 255/40R21 front and 285/35R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series front and 35 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Taycan’s standard 55 series front and 45 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Ghost has standard 21-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the Taycan.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires standard on the Ghost can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The Taycan doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

The front and rear suspension of the Ghost uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the Taycan, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The Ghost has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Ghost’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The Taycan doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Ghost’s wheelbase is 15.5 inches longer than on the Taycan (129.7 inches vs. 114.2 inches). The Ghost Extended’s wheelbase is 21.8 inches longer than on the Taycan (136 inches vs. 114.2 inches).

The Ghost uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Taycan doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The Ghost has .9 inches more front headroom, 1.9 inches more front shoulder room, 4.1 inches more rear headroom, 9.7 inches more rear legroom and 3.8 inches more rear shoulder room than the Taycan.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Ghost’s available rear seats recline. The Taycan’s rear seats don’t recline.

The Ghost has a larger trunk than the Taycan (17.9 vs. 17.2 cubic feet).

With its sedan body style, valet key and remote trunk release lockout, the Ghost offers cargo security. The Taycan’s non-lockable folding seat and non-lockable remote release defeat cargo security.

The Ghost’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. An easy entry system costs extra on the Taycan.

If the windows are left open on the Ghost the driver can close them all at the outside door handle or from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the Taycan can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the Ghost to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Taycan doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Ghost has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The Taycan doesn’t offer headlight washers.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the Ghost to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The Taycan doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

Optional air conditioned front and rear seats keep the Ghost’s passengers comfortable and take the sting out of hot leather in summer. The Taycan doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats in the rear.

The Ghost has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the car heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the Taycan.

The Ghost has standard massaging front seats. Massaging front seats cost extra on the Taycan. The Ghost also offers optional massaging rear seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging rear seats aren’t available in the Taycan.
