For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Ram 1500 TRX are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The GMC Sierra Limited doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.
Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The 1500 TRX offers optional Reverse Stop that uses rear sensors to monitor and automatically apply the brakes to prevent a rear collision. The Sierra Limited doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.
To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, Full-Time Four-Wheel Drive is standard on the 1500 TRX. But it costs extra on the Sierra Limited.
Both the 1500 TRX and the Sierra Limited have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available crash mitigating brakes, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.
The Ram 1500 TRX weighs 1030 to 2173 pounds more than the GMC Sierra Limited. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.
