Safety

The 1500 TRX has standard head airbag curtains for front and rear seats which act as a forgiving barrier between the driver and outboard passenger's upper bodies and the window and pillars. Combined with high-strength steel door beams and lower side airbags this system increases head protection in broadside collisions. The Hummer EV Pickup doesn't offer side airbag protection for the head and are only available for the front seats.

Both the 1500 TRX and the Hummer EV Pickup have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available crash mitigating brakes, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

Warranty

The 1500 TRX’s corrosion warranty is unlimited miles longer than the Hummer EV Pickup’s (unlimited vs. 100,000 miles).

There are over 43 percent more Ram dealers than there are GMC dealers, which makes it easier should you ever need service under the 1500 TRX’s warranty.

Reliability

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2021 Auto Issue reports that Ram vehicles are more reliable than GMC vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Ram 9 places higher in reliability than GMC.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the 1500 TRX has larger tires than the Hummer EV Pickup (325/65R18 vs. 305/70R18).

The 1500 TRX’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 65 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Hummer EV Pickup’s 70 series tires.

The 1500 TRX has a standard full size spare so a flat doesn’t interrupt your work or a trip. A full size spare costs extra on the Hummer EV Pickup. Without the option you must depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

Suspension and Handling

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the 1500 TRX’s wheelbase is 9.5 inches longer than on the Hummer EV Pickup (145.1 inches vs. 135.6 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the 1500 TRX is 1.2 inches wider in the front and .8 inches wider in the rear than on the Hummer EV Pickup.

Chassis

The Ram 1500 TRX may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 2550 pounds less than the GMC Hummer EV Pickup.

The 1500 TRX uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Hummer EV Pickup doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

Passenger Space

The 1500 TRX has standard seating for 6 passengers; the Hummer EV Pickup can only carry 5.

The 1500 TRX has 2.9 inches more front hip room, 2.1 inches more front shoulder room, 1.2 inches more rear headroom, 6.3 inches more rear legroom, 3.1 inches more rear hip room and 1.7 inches more rear shoulder room than the Hummer EV Pickup.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the 1500 TRX’s available rear seats recline. The Hummer EV Pickup’s rear seats don’t recline.

Cargo Capacity

The 1500 TRX has a much larger cargo box than the Hummer EV Regular Cab shortbed (53.9 vs. 36.7 cubic feet).

The Hummer EV Pickup’s spare tire is stored in the cargo area, where it diminishes the useable cargo capacity and interferes with loading and unloading. The 1500 TRX’s spare is out of the way underneath.

The 1500 TRX’s cargo box is larger than the Hummer EV Pickup’s in almost every dimension:

Towing

The 1500 TRX’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Hummer EV Pickup’s (8100 vs. 7500 pounds).

The 1500 TRX 4WD can be flat towed on all four wheels (dinghy towed), allowing recreational vehicle owners to bring it with them on the road. When they reach their destination, the 1500 TRX can be unhitched and driven around locally. The Hummer EV Pickup can’t be towed flat on the ground.

Ergonomics

The 1500 TRX offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed and navigation instruction readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Hummer EV Pickup doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

The 1500 TRX’s front power windows open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The Hummer EV Pickup’s power windows’ switches have to be held the entire time to close them fully.

To help drivers see further while navigating curves, the 1500 TRX has standard adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle. The Hummer EV Pickup doesn’t offer cornering lights.

Optional air conditioned front and rear seats keep the 1500 TRX’s passengers comfortable and take the sting out of hot leather in summer. The Hummer EV Pickup doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats in the rear.
