For enhanced safety, the front and second-row seat shoulder belts of the Land Rover Range Rover have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision. The Jeep Wagoneer L doesn’t offer pretensioners for its second-row seat belts.

The Range Rover’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Wagoneer L doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

Both the Range Rover and Wagoneer L have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The Range Rover has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The Wagoneer L’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Range Rover. But it costs extra on the Wagoneer L.

The Range Rover’s standard lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane and gently nudges the vehicle back towards its lane. A lane departure warning system costs extra on the Wagoneer L.

For better protection of the passenger compartment, the Range Rover uses safety cell construction with a three-dimensional high-strength frame that surrounds the passenger compartment. It provides extra impact protection and a sturdy mounting location for door hardware and side impact beams. The Wagoneer L uses a body-on-frame design, which has no frame members above the floor of the vehicle.

Both the Range Rover and the Wagoneer L have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras and rear cross-path warning.

The Range Rover comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Wagoneer L’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 14,000 miles sooner.

The Range Rover’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the Wagoneer L’s (6 vs. 5 years).

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Land Rover vehicles are better in initial quality than Jeep vehicles. With 6 fewer problems per 100 vehicles, JD Power ranks Land Rover higher than Jeep.

The Range Rover P530’s 4.4 turbo V8 produces 13 more horsepower (523 vs. 510) and 53 lbs.-ft. more torque (553 vs. 500) than the Grand Wagoneer L’s optional 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder.

The Range Rover P440e can travel with zero emissions for 48 miles. The Wagoneer L can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

Regenerative brakes improve the Range Rover’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The Wagoneer L doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

The Range Rover’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The Wagoneer L doesn’t offer launch control.

The Range Rover’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Wagoneer L’s standard 65 series tires. The Range Rover’s optional tires have a lower 40 series profile than the Wagoneer L’s optional 45 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Range Rover has standard 21-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the Wagoneer L. The Range Rover’s optional 23-inch wheels are larger than the 22-inch wheels optional on the Wagoneer L.

The Range Rover offers active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The Wagoneer L doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

The front and rear suspension of the Range Rover uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the Wagoneer L, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The Range Rover’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The Wagoneer L doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For better maneuverability, the Range Rover SWB’s turning circle is 6.3 feet tighter than the Wagoneer L’s (35.9 feet vs. 42.2 feet). The Range Rover LWB’s turning circle is 4.3 feet tighter than the Wagoneer L’s (37.9 feet vs. 42.2 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Range Rover has a 3.3 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the Wagoneer L (11.6 vs. 8.3 inches), allowing the Range Rover to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The Range Rover’s minimum ground clearance is 1.6 inches higher than on the Wagoneer L Air Suspension (11.6 vs. 10 inches).

The Land Rover Range Rover may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 750 to 850 pounds less than the Jeep Wagoneer L.

The Range Rover SWB is 2 feet, 3.8 inches shorter than the Wagoneer L, making the Range Rover easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

Unibody construction lowers the Range Rover’s center of gravity significantly without reducing ground clearance. This contributes to better on the road handling and better off-road performance and stability. In addition, unibody construction makes the chassis stiffer, improving handling and reducing squeaks and rattles. The Wagoneer L uses body-on-frame design instead.

The design of the Land Rover Range Rover amounts to more than styling. The Range Rover offers aerodynamic coefficients of drag from .3 to .33 Cd (depending on bodystyle and options). That is lower than the Wagoneer L (.3364 to .352) and many sports cars. A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the Range Rover get better fuel mileage.

Flexibility is maximized at the game, campground or a drive-in theatre in the Range Rover when its optional tailgating rear seats are deployed, allowing people to sit facing out of the tailgate. (Do not use while vehicle is in motion.) The Wagoneer L doesn’t offer tailgating seats.

The Range Rover’s rear cargo window opens separately from the rest of the tailgate door to allow quicker loading of small packages. The Wagoneer L’s rear cargo window doesn’t open.

The Range Rover’s front and rear power windows all open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The Wagoneer L’s standard power windows’ rear power window switches have to be held the entire time to close them fully.

If the windows are left open on the Range Rover the driver can close them all from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the Wagoneer L can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The Range Rover’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Wagoneer L’s standard intermittent wipers change speed with vehicle speed, but can’t turn on and off or change speed based on changing rainfall.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the Range Rover to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Wagoneer L doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Range Rover has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The Wagoneer L doesn’t offer headlight washers.

To better shield the driver and front passenger’s vision, the Range Rover has standard dual-element sun visors that can block glare from two directions simultaneously. The Wagoneer L doesn’t offer secondary sun visors.

Both the Range Rover and the Wagoneer L offer available massaging front seats. The Range Rover also offers optional massaging second row seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging second row seats aren’t available in the Wagoneer L.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Land Rover Range Rover has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the Wagoneer L.

The Land Rover Range Rover outsold the Jeep Wagoneer by over two to one during 2021.
