For enhanced safety, the front and second-row seat shoulder belts of the Land Rover Range Rover have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision. The BMW X6 M doesn’t offer pretensioners for its rear seat belts.

Both the Range Rover and X6 M have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The Range Rover has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The X6 M’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

Both the Range Rover and the X6 M have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Range Rover offers optional 23-inch wheels. The X6 M’s largest wheels are only 21-inches in the front and 22-inches in the rear.

For better maneuverability, the Range Rover SWB’s turning circle is 6.1 feet tighter than the X6 M’s (35.9 feet vs. 42 feet). The Range Rover LWB’s turning circle is 4.1 feet tighter than the X6 M’s (37.9 feet vs. 42 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Range Rover has a 3.3 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the X6 M (11.6 vs. 8.3 inches), allowing the Range Rover to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The Range Rover’s minimum ground clearance is 3.2 inches higher than on the X6 M Competition (11.6 vs. 8.4 inches).

The Range Rover uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The X6 M doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The Range Rover LWB offers optional seating for 7 passengers; the X6 M can only carry 5.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Range Rover’s middle and third row seats recline. The X6 M’s rear seats don’t recline.

To better shield the driver and front passenger’s vision, the Range Rover has standard dual-element sun visors that can block glare from two directions simultaneously. The X6 M doesn’t offer secondary sun visors.

Optional air conditioned front and second row seats keep the Range Rover’s passengers comfortable and take the sting out of hot leather in summer. The X6 M doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats in the rear.

The Range Rover offers an optional 115-volt a/c outlet, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The X6 M doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.
