The Range Rover’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Q7 doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the Range Rover and the Q7 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras and rear cross-path warning.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Land Rover vehicles are better in initial quality than Audi vehicles. With 46 fewer problems per 100 vehicles, JD Power ranks Land Rover higher than Audi.

The Range Rover has more powerful engines than the Q7:

On the EPA test cycle the Range Rover P400 3.0 turbo/supercharged 6-cylinder Hybrid 8-speed Auto running its gasoline engine gets better fuel mileage than the Q7 55 TFSI (18 city/26 hwy vs. 18 city/22 hwy).

The Range Rover P440e can travel with zero emissions for 48 miles. The Q7 can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

Regardless of its engine, regenerative brakes improve the Range Rover’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. Audi only offers a regenerative brake system on the Q7 55 TFSI.

The Range Rover’s standard fuel tank has 1.3 gallons more fuel capacity than the Q7 (23.8 vs. 22.5 gallons).

The Range Rover’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The Q7 doesn’t offer launch control.

For better stopping power the Range Rover P440e/P530’s brake rotors are larger than those on the Q7:

For better traction, the Range Rover has larger standard tires than the Q7 (275/50R21 vs. 255/55R19).

The Range Rover’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Q7’s standard 55 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Range Rover has standard 21-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the Q7. The Range Rover’s optional 23-inch wheels are larger than the 22-inch wheels optional on the Q7 Prestige.

The Range Rover SWB has a standard space-saver spare (not available on 7-Passenger) so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the Q7; it requires you to depend on its run-flat tires, which limits mileage and speed before they are repaired. If a run-flat is damaged beyond repair by a road hazard your vehicle will have to be towed. Some tire options on the Q7 don’t have a run-flat feature, either.

The Range Rover offers active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The Q7 doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

The front and rear suspension of the Range Rover uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the Q7, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The Range Rover has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Range Rover’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The Q7 doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

The Range Rover’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The Q7 doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Range Rover SWB’s wheelbase is .1 inches longer than on the Q7 (118 inches vs. 117.9 inches). The Range Rover LWB’s wheelbase is 8 inches longer than on the Q7 (125.9 inches vs. 117.9 inches).

For better maneuverability, the Range Rover SWB’s turning circle is 5.1 feet tighter than the Q7’s (35.9 feet vs. 41 feet). The Range Rover LWB’s turning circle is 3.1 feet tighter than the Q7’s (37.9 feet vs. 41 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Range Rover has a 3.3 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the Q7 (11.6 vs. 8.3 inches), allowing the Range Rover to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The Range Rover’s minimum ground clearance is 1.9 inches higher than on the Q7 w/Air Suspension (11.6 vs. 9.7 inches).

The Range Rover uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Q7 doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Range Rover’s middle and third row seats recline. The Q7’s third row seats don’t recline.

Flexibility is maximized at the game, campground or a drive-in theatre in the Range Rover when its optional tailgating rear seats are deployed, allowing people to sit facing out of the tailgate. (Do not use while vehicle is in motion.) The Q7 doesn’t offer tailgating seats.

Pressing a switch automatically lowers or raises the Range Rover’s second and third row seats, to make changing between cargo and passengers easier. The Q7 doesn’t offer automatic folding second row seats.

The Range Rover’s rear cargo window opens separately from the rest of the tailgate door to allow quicker loading of small packages. The Q7’s rear cargo window doesn’t open.

The Range Rover’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Q7’s (7716 vs. 4400 pounds).

Standard Trailer Stability Assist (TSA) on the Range Rover uses the Dynamic Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The Q7 doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the Range Rover to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Q7 doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Range Rover has a standard rear fixed intermittent wiper with a full on position. The rear wiper standard on the Q7 only has an intermittent setting, so in a hard rain visibility isn’t as good.

Optional air conditioned front and second row seats keep the Range Rover’s passengers comfortable and take the sting out of hot leather in summer. The Q7 doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats for the second row.

Both the Range Rover and the Q7 offer available massaging front seats. The Range Rover also offers optional massaging second row seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging second row seats aren’t available in the Q7.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Land Rover Range Rover has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the Q7.

The Range Rover offers an optional 115-volt a/c outlet, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Q7 doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.
