Compare the2022 Lamborghini UrusVS 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk

The Lamborghini Urus has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Grand Cherokee Trackhawk doesn’t offer a front passenger side knee airbag.

An active infrared night vision system optional on the Urus helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera and near-infrared lights to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The Grand Cherokee Trackhawk doesn’t offer a night vision system.

The Urus offers an optional Top View Camera to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The Grand Cherokee Trackhawk only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

Both the Urus and the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, rearview cameras, available lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems and rear cross-path warning.

For smoother operation, better efficiency and fewer moving parts, the Urus has an overhead cam design, rather than the old pushrod design of the engine in the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk.

As tested in Car and Driver the Lamborghini Urus is faster than the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk:

On the EPA test cycle the Urus gets better fuel mileage than the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk (12 city/17 hwy vs. 11 city/17 hwy).

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Lamborghini Urus higher (3 out of 10) than the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk (1). This means the Urus produces up to 22.5 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk every 15,000 miles.

For better stopping power the Urus’ brake rotors are larger than those on the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk:

The Urus has standard heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The Grand Cherokee Trackhawk doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

The Urus stops much shorter than the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk:

For better traction and acceleration, the Urus has larger standard rear tires than the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk (315/40R21 vs. 295/45R20). The Urus’ optional rear tires are larger than the largest rear tires available on the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk (325/30R23 vs. 295/45R20).

The Urus’ standard 315/40R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk’s standard 45 series tires. The Urus’ optional 285/35R23 front and 325/30R23 rear tires have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile than the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk’s 45 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Urus has standard 21-inch wheels. Only 20-inch wheels are available on the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. The Urus offers optional 23-inch wheels.

The Urus has active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The Grand Cherokee Trackhawk doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

The front and rear suspension of the Urus uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The Urus offers an available adjustable active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Jeep doesn’t offer an active suspension on the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk.

The Urus has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Urus’ height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The Grand Cherokee Trackhawk doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Urus’ wheelbase is 3.5 inches longer than on the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk (118.2 inches vs. 114.7 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Urus is 1 inch wider in the front and 2.5 inches wider in the rear than on the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk.

The Urus handles at 1.02 G’s, while the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk pulls only .89 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The Urus executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1.2 seconds quicker than the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk (23.5 seconds @ .87 average G’s vs. 24.7 seconds @ .79 average G’s).

For greater off-road capability the Urus has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk (8.4 vs. 8.1 inches), allowing the Urus to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The Urus’ minimum ground clearance is 1.7 inches higher than on the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk (9.8 vs. 8.1 inches).

The Lamborghini Urus may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 500 pounds less than the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk.

The Urus has 1 inch more front headroom, 1.3 inches more front legroom, .2 inches more front shoulder room and 1.4 inches more rear legroom than the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk.

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Urus’ available liftgate can be opened just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Grand Cherokee Trackhawk doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its liftgate, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

The Urus’ standard towing capacity is much higher than the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk’s (7716 vs. 7200 pounds).

The Urus offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed and tachometer readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Grand Cherokee Trackhawk doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

The Urus’ power parking brake sets with one touch and releases with one touch or automatically. The Grand Cherokee Trackhawk’s parking brake has to be released manually.

The Urus offers optional massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk.
