Compare the2023 Fiat 500X VS 2023 Lexus UX

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the 500X. But it costs extra on the UX.

Both the 500X and the UX have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, front and rear parking sensors, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

The engine in the 500X has a single overhead cam for simplicity. The engine in the UX has dual overhead cams, which add to the number of moving parts and the complexity of the cylinder heads.

The 500X’s standard 1.3 turbo 4-cylinder produces 210 lbs.-ft. more torque (210 vs. ) than the UX’s 2.0 DOHC 4-cylinder hybrid.

Both the 500X and UX have a standard automatic start/stop engine feature to stop unnecessary fuel waste and pollution at stoplights and heavy traffic. The 500X has a standard disable switch for the system, so a driver can keep the engine from shutting off when the vehicle stops temporarily.

The 500X has 2.1 gallons more fuel capacity than the UX (12.7 vs. 10.6 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

The 500X has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The UX doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

The 500X Sport’s optional tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the UX’s 50 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the 500X Sport offers optional 19-inch wheels. The UX’s largest wheels are only 18-inches.

The 500X offers an optional space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the UX; it requires you to depend on its run-flat tires, which limits mileage and speed before they are repaired. If a run-flat is damaged beyond repair by a road hazard your vehicle will have to be towed.

The 500X is 9.8 inches shorter than the UX, making the 500X easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The 500X has 1.8 inches more front headroom, 1.5 inches more rear headroom and 1.7 inches more rear legroom than the UX.

The 500X has a 2000 lbs. towing capacity. The UX has no towing capacity.

The power windows standard on both the 500X and the UX have locks to prevent small children from operating them. When the lock on the 500X is engaged the driver can still operate all of the windows, for instance to close one opened by a child. The UX prevents the driver from operating the other windows just as it does the other passengers.

The 500X’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The UX’s standard manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

Insurance will cost less for the 500X owner. The Complete Car Cost Guide estimates that insurance for the 500X will cost $110 to $1530 less than the UX over a five-year period.
