For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Ford Mustang Mach-E are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Jaguar I-Pace doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E has a standard driver’s side knee airbag mounted low on the dashboard. The knee airbag helps prevent the driver from sliding under the seatbelts or the main frontal airbag; this keeps the driver better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. A knee airbag also helps keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The I-Pace doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The Mustang Mach-E has standard Post Collision Braking, which automatically apply the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The I-Pace doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The Mustang Mach-E has a standard Reverse Brake Assist that use rear sensors to monitor and automatically apply the brakes to prevent a rear collision. The I-Pace doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.

Both the Mustang Mach-E and the I-Pace have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

For its top level performance in IIHS driver and passenger-side small overlap frontal, moderate overlap frontal, side impact, roof strength and head restraint tests, its standard vehicle-to-vehicle front crash prevention system, with its optional vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash prevention system, and its available headlight’s “Good” rating, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety grants the Mustang Mach-E the rating of “Top Safety Pick” for 2022, a rating granted to only 175 vehicles tested by the IIHS. The I-Pace has not been tested, yet.

There are almost 16 times as many Ford dealers as there are Jaguar dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Mustang Mach-E’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Ford vehicles are better in initial quality than Jaguar vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Ford above average in initial quality. With 43 more problems per 100 vehicles, Jaguar is rated below average.

The Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition’s optional electric motors produces 86 more horsepower (480 vs. 394) and 122 lbs.-ft. more torque (634 vs. 512) than the I-Pace’s electric motors.

For better maneuverability, the Mustang Mach-E’s turning circle is 2.4 feet tighter than the I-Pace’s (38.1 feet vs. 40.5 feet).

The Ford Mustang Mach-E may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs up to about 400 pounds less than the Jaguar I-Pace.

The Mustang Mach-E is 5.1 inches narrower than the I-Pace, making the Mustang Mach-E easier to handle and maneuver in traffic.

The Mustang Mach-E has 2.4 inches more front legroom, .1 inches more rear headroom, 3.1 inches more rear legroom and 1.3 inches more rear shoulder room than the I-Pace.

The Mustang Mach-E has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the I-Pace with its rear seat up (34.4 vs. 25.3 cubic feet). The Mustang Mach-E has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the I-Pace with its rear seat folded (64.4 vs. 53.6 cubic feet).

In case you lock your keys in your vehicle, or don’t have them with you, you can let yourself in using the Mustang Mach-E’s exterior PIN entry system. The I-Pace doesn’t offer an exterior PIN entry system, and its SOS Emergency Call can’t unlock the doors if the vehicle doesn’t have cell phone reception or the driver can’t contact the service.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Mustang Mach-E has a standard rear wiper. The I-Pace doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

Consumer Reports rated the Mustang Mach-E’s headlight performance “Very Good,” a higher rating than the I-Pace’s headlights, which were rated “Good.”

The Mustang Mach-E’s optional Active Park Assist 2.0 can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. The I-Pace’s automatic parking system requires operating the brakes and transmission to safely park.

The Mustang Mach-E is available in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The I-Pace doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.

Insurance will cost less for the Mustang Mach-E owner. The Complete Car Cost Guide estimates that insurance for the Mustang Mach-E will cost $2115 to $4260 less than the I-Pace over a five-year period.

The Mustang Mach-E will cost the buyer less in the long run because of its superior resale value. The IntelliChoice estimates that the Mustang Mach-E will retain 45.8% to 46.58% of its original price after five years, while the I-Pace only retains 42.74%.

IntelliChoice estimates that five-year ownership costs (depreciation, financing, insurance, fuel, fees, repairs and maintenance) for the Ford Mustang Mach-E will be $12560 to $28562 less than for the Jaguar I-Pace.

A group of representative automotive journalists from North America selected the Mustang Mach-E as the 2021 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year. The I-Pace has never been chosen.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E outsold the Jaguar I-Pace by over 100 to one during 2022.
