For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Hyundai Santa Fe are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Jaguar F-Pace doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the Santa Fe are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The F-Pace doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The Santa Fe Limited/Calligraphy has standard Parking Collision Avoidance Assist that uses rear sensors to monitor and automatically apply the brakes to prevent a rear collision. The F-Pace doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.

Compared to metal, the Santa Fe’s plastic fuel tank can withstand harder, more intrusive impacts without leaking; this decreases the possibility of fire. The Jaguar F-Pace has a metal gas tank.

Both the Santa Fe and the F-Pace have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors, available all wheel drive and around view monitors.

For its top level performance in IIHS driver and passenger-side small overlap frontal, moderate overlap frontal, side impact, roof strength and head restraint tests, its standard vehicle-to-vehicle front crash prevention system, its standard vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash prevention system, and its standard headlight’s “Good” rating, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety grants the Santa Fe its highest rating: “Top Safety Pick Plus” for 2022, a rating granted to only 112 vehicles tested by the IIHS. The F-Pace has not been tested, yet.

Hyundai’s powertrain warranty covers the Santa Fe 5 years and 40,000 miles longer than Jaguar covers the F-Pace. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the F-Pace ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

The Santa Fe’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the F-Pace’s (7 vs. 6 years).

There are over 4 times as many Hyundai dealers as there are Jaguar dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Santa Fe’s warranty.

To reliably power the ignition and other systems and to recharge the battery, the Santa Fe has a standard 150-amp alternator. The F-Pace’s 130-amp alternator isn’t as powerful.

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the Santa Fe’s reliability 25 points higher than the F-Pace.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Hyundai vehicles are better in initial quality than Jaguar vehicles. With 25 fewer problems per 100 vehicles, JD Power ranks Hyundai higher than Jaguar.

Power ranks Hyundai third in reliability, above the industry average. With 85 more problems per 100 vehicles, Jaguar is ranked 26th.

On the EPA test cycle the Santa Fe gets better mileage than the F-Pace:

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Hyundai Santa Fe uses regular unleaded gasoline. The F-Pace requires premium, which can cost 20 to 55 cents more per gallon.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Hyundai Santa Fe higher (5 to 7 out of 10) than the Jaguar F-Pace (3 to 7). This means the Santa Fe produces up to 24.5 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the F-Pace every 15,000 miles.

The Santa Fe offers an available sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The F-Pace doesn’t offer an SMG or a conventional manual transmission.

For better maneuverability, the Santa Fe’s turning circle is 1.8 feet tighter than the F-Pace’s (37.4 feet vs. 39.2 feet).

The Hyundai Santa Fe may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 350 to 450 pounds less than the Jaguar F-Pace.

The Santa Fe is 6.7 inches narrower than the F-Pace, making the Santa Fe easier to handle and maneuver in traffic.

The design of the Hyundai Santa Fe amounts to more than styling. The Santa Fe has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .33 Cd. That is lower than the F-Pace (.36) and many sports cars. A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the Santa Fe get better fuel mileage.

The Santa Fe has 15.5 cubic feet more passenger volume than the F-Pace (111.5 vs. 96).

The Santa Fe has 1.5 inches more front headroom, 3.8 inches more front legroom, 1.4 inches more front shoulder room, .5 inches more rear headroom, 4.5 inches more rear legroom and 2.5 inches more rear shoulder room than the F-Pace.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Santa Fe’s rear seats recline. The F-Pace’s rear seats don’t recline.

The front step up height for the Santa Fe is 1.7 inches lower than the F-Pace (17.5” vs. 19.2”). The Santa Fe’s rear step up height is 1.5 inches lower than the F-Pace’s (18.3” vs. 19.8”).

The Santa Fe has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the F-Pace with its rear seat up (36.4 vs. 32.1 cubic feet). The Santa Fe has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the F-Pace with its rear seat folded (72.1 vs. 70.4 cubic feet).

A low lift-over cargo hatch design makes loading and unloading the Santa Fe easier. The Santa Fe’s cargo hatch lift-over height is 29 inches, while the F-Pace’s liftover is 30.5 inches.

The Santa Fe’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The F-Pace’s power mirror switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

The Santa Fe has a standard locking fuel door with a remote release located convenient to the driver. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank. The F-Pace doesn’t offer a locking fuel door.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the Santa Fe has standard extendable sun visors. The F-Pace doesn’t offer extendable visors.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the Santa Fe to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The F-Pace doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

The Santa Fe Limited/Calligraphy has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The F-Pace doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The Santa Fe Limited/Calligraphy’s Smart Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Smart Parking Assist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The F-Pace SVR’s automatic parking system requires operating the brakes and transmission to safely park and it doesn’t offer remote control parking.

The Santa Fe is available in both front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The F-Pace doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.

Insurance will cost less for the Santa Fe owner. The Complete Car Cost Guide estimates that insurance for the Santa Fe will cost $2545 to $8965 less than the F-Pace over a five-year period.

The Santa Fe will cost the buyer less in the long run because of its superior resale value. The IntelliChoice estimates that the Santa Fe will retain 51.18% to 51.49% of its original price after five years, while the F-Pace only retains 45% to 47.08%.

IntelliChoice estimates that five-year ownership costs (depreciation, financing, insurance, fuel, fees, repairs and maintenance) for the Hyundai Santa Fe will be $25121 to $47622 less than for the Jaguar F-Pace.
