In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the Wagoneer are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The Range Rover doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

The Jeep Wagoneer has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Range Rover doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The Wagoneer has standard Active Headrests, which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the Active Headrests system moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The Range Rover doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The Wagoneer has standard Park Assist with Rear Stop that uses rear sensors to monitor and automatically apply the brakes to prevent a rear collision. The Range Rover doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.

A passive infrared night vision system optional on the Wagoneer Grand helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The Range Rover doesn’t offer a night vision system.

The Wagoneer has a standard blind spot warning system which uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them. A system to reveal vehicles in the Range Rover’s blind spot costs extra.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the Wagoneer has a standard rear cross-path warning system, which uses sensors in the rear bumper to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side, helping the driver avoid collisions. Rear cross-path warning costs extra on the Range Rover.

Both the Wagoneer and the Range Rover have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available all wheel drive, lane departure warning systems, around view monitors and driver alert monitors.

Jeep’s powertrain warranty covers the Wagoneer 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Land Rover covers the Range Rover. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Coverage on the Range Rover ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

Jeep pays for scheduled maintenance on the Wagoneer for 5 years and unlimited miles. Jeep will pay for oil changes, lubrication and any other required maintenance. Land Rover doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the Range Rover.

There are over 12 times as many Jeep dealers as there are Land Rover dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Wagoneer’s warranty.

To reliably power the ignition and other systems and to recharge the battery, the Wagoneer has a standard 240-amp alternator (230-amp - Wagoneer 6-cylinder). The Range Rover’s 150-amp alternator isn’t as powerful.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Jeep vehicles are more reliable than Land Rover With 83 fewer problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, J.D. Power ranks Jeep higher than Land Rover.

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the Wagoneer V8’s fuel efficiency. The Range Rover doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

The Wagoneer has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The Range Rover doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

For better traction, the Wagoneer has larger standard tires than the Range Rover (275/55R20 vs. 235/65R19). The Wagoneer’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Range Rover (285/45R22 vs. 275/45R21).

The Jeep Wagoneer’s wheels have 6 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The Land Rover Range Rover only has 5 wheel lugs per wheel.

The Wagoneer has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The Range Rover doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

The Wagoneer has a standard full size spare so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare costs extra on the Range Rover. Without the option you must depend on a temporary spare, which has mileage and speed limitations, or roadside assistance and a tow-truck.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Wagoneer’s wheelbase is 8 inches longer than on the Range Rover (123 inches vs. 115 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Wagoneer is 1.9 inches wider in the front and 2 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the Range Rover.

For better maneuverability, the Wagoneer’s turning circle is 2.5 feet tighter than the Range Rover’s (38 feet vs. 40.5 feet). The Wagoneer’s turning circle is 4.8 feet tighter than the Range Rover LWB’s (38 feet vs. 42.8 feet).

The Wagoneer uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Range Rover doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The Wagoneer’s liftgate lifts up in one piece, completely out of the way of loading and unloading, while sheltering the cargo loading area. The Range Rover’s tailgate’s top part raises up, but the bottom part lowers, getting in the way of loading and making an uneven surface for sliding cargo.

Maximum trailer towing in the Land Rover Range Rover is limited to 7716 pounds. The Wagoneer offers up to a 10,000 lbs. towing capacity.

The Wagoneer 4WD with optional equipment can be flat towed on all four wheels (dinghy towed), allowing recreational vehicle owners to bring it with them on the road. When they reach their destination, the Wagoneer can be unhitched and driven around locally. The Range Rover can’t be towed flat on the ground.

The Wagoneer’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The Range Rover does not have an oil pressure gauge.

The Wagoneer’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The Range Rover’s power mirror switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

Consumer Reports rated the Wagoneer’s headlight performance “Very Good,” a higher rating than the Range Rover’s headlights, which were rated “Good.”

To help drivers avoid possible obstacles, the Wagoneer offers optional cornering lights to illuminate around corners when the turn signals are activated. The Range Rover doesn’t offer cornering lights.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the Wagoneer has standard extendable sun visors. The Range Rover doesn’t offer extendable visors.

The Wagoneer has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the Range Rover.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Jeep Wagoneer offers an optional wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. The Range Rover doesn’t offer wireless personal charging.

The Wagoneer’s optional ParkSense Automated Parking can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, with the driver only controlling the transmission and speed with the brake pedal. With its available fully controlled system, the driver just activates it and it parks autonomously, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. The Range Rover’s automatic parking system requires operating the brakes and transmission to safely park.

The Wagoneer is available in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The Range Rover doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.

Insurance will cost less for the Wagoneer owner. The Complete Car Cost Guide estimates that insurance for the Wagoneer will cost $475 to $10055 less than the Range Rover over a five-year period.

The Wagoneer will cost the buyer less in the long run because of its superior resale value. The IntelliChoice estimates that the Wagoneer will retain 52.54% to 52.77% of its original price after five years, while the Range Rover only retains 44.63% to 49.74%.

IntelliChoice estimates that five-year ownership costs (depreciation, financing, insurance, fuel, fees, repairs and maintenance) for the Jeep Wagoneer will be $29645 to $121633 less than for the Land Rover Range Rover.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Wagoneer first among large suvs in owner reported satisfaction. This includes how well the vehicle performs and satisfies its owner’s expectations. The Range Rover isn’t in the top three in its category.

The Jeep Wagoneer outsold the Land Rover Range Rover by almost four to one during the 2022 model year.
