The Artura’s optional lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane. The DBS doesn’t offer a lane departure warning system.

Both the Artura and the DBS have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and available around view monitors.

The Artura comes with a full 5-year/45000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The DBS’ 3-year basic warranty expires 2 years sooner.

McLaren pays for scheduled maintenance on the Artura for 3 years and 27000 miles. McLaren will pay for oil changes, lubrication and any other required maintenance (up to 3 oil changes). Aston Martin doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the DBS.

The Artura has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The DBS doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the McLaren Artura higher (6 out of 10) than the Aston Martin DBS (3). This means the Artura produces up to 23.4 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the DBS every 15,000 miles.

The Artura offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The DBS doesn’t offer an SMG or a conventional manual transmission.

The Artura’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s at 3200 in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The DBS doesn’t offer launch control.

The Artura has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The DBS doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

The McLaren Artura may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 750 to 1000 pounds less than the Aston Martin DBS.

With its coupe body style and remote trunk release lockout, the Artura offers cargo security. The DBS’ non-lockable remote release defeats cargo security.

While driving with high beams on, sensitive light sensors available for the Artura detect other vehicles which could be blinded and automatically switch to low beams. The DBS doesn’t offer automatic dimming high beams.

To keep a safe, consistent following distance, the Artura offers an optional Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, which alters the speed of the vehicle without driver intervention. This allows the driver to use cruise control more safely without constantly having to disengage it when approaching slower traffic. The DBS doesn’t offer an adaptive cruise control.
