The Bentayga has standard Active Head Restraints, which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the Active Head Restraints system moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The Range Rover Sport doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

A passive infrared night vision system optional on the Bentayga helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then projects the image on the windshield, near the driver’s line of sight. The Range Rover Sport doesn’t offer a night vision system.

The Bentayga has a standard blind spot warning system which uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them. A system to reveal vehicles in the Range Rover Sport’s blind spot costs extra.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the Bentayga has a standard rear cross-path warning system, which uses sensors in the rear bumper to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side, helping the driver avoid collisions. Rear cross-path warning costs extra on the Range Rover Sport.

Both the Bentayga and the Range Rover Sport have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, plastic fuel tanks, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, rearview cameras and available lane departure warning systems.

The Bentayga Hybrid can travel with zero emissions for 18 miles. The Range Rover Sport can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the Bentayga V8/W12’s fuel efficiency. The Range Rover Sport doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Bentayga has standard 21-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the Range Rover Sport.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Bentayga V8’s wheelbase is 2.8 inches longer than on the Range Rover Sport (117.9 inches vs. 115.1 inches).

The Bentayga S handles at .88 G’s, while the Range Rover Sport HSE pulls only .78 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The Bentayga SPEED executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 3 seconds quicker than the Range Rover Sport HSE (24.6 seconds @ .79 average G’s vs. 27.6 seconds @ .62 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the Bentayga EWB’s turning circle is 2 feet tighter than the Range Rover Sport’s (38.7 feet vs. 40.7 feet). The Bentayga’s turning circle is .1 feet tighter than the Range Rover Sport’s (40.6 feet vs. 40.7 feet).

The design of the Bentley Bentayga amounts to more than styling. The Bentayga has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .34 Cd. That is lower than the Range Rover Sport (.34 to .35). A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the Bentayga get better fuel mileage.
