The Vantage’s blind spot warning system uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them. The Artura doesn’t offer a system to reveal objects in the driver’s blind spots.

Both the Vantage and the Artura have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and available rearview cameras.

Warranty

The Vantage comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The Artura’s 45000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.

Engine

The Vantage’s optional 5.2 turbo V12 produces 19 more horsepower (690 vs. 671) and 11 lbs.-ft. more torque (542 vs. 531) than the Artura’s 3.0 turbo V6 hybrid.

Fuel Economy and Range

On the EPA test cycle the Vantage V8 gets better fuel mileage than the Artura running its gasoline engine (18 city/24 hwy vs. 17 city/21 hwy).

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the Vantage V12’s fuel efficiency. The Artura doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

The Vantage has 1.9 gallons more fuel capacity than the Artura (19.3 vs. 17.4 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the Vantage’s front brake rotors are larger than those on the Artura:

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Vantage has larger front tires than the Artura (F:255/40R20 & R:295/35R20 vs. F:235/35R19 & R:295/35R20).

The Vantage F1/V12’s 295/30R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Artura’s 35 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Vantage has standard 20-inch wheels. Only 19-inch front wheels are available on the Artura. The Vantage F1/V12 has standard 21-inch wheels.

The Vantage has a standard space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the Artura; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

Suspension and Handling

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Vantage’s wheelbase is 2.6 inches longer than on the Artura (106.5 inches vs. 103.9 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Vantage is .6 inches wider in the front and 1.3 inches wider in the rear than on the Artura.

The Vantage’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (50% to 50%) than the Artura’s (42% to 58%). This gives the Vantage more stable handling and braking.

For better maneuverability, the Vantage’s turning circle is .6 feet tighter than the Artura’s (38.7 feet vs. 39.3 feet).

Cargo Capacity

The Vantage Coupe has a much larger trunk than the Artura (12.2 vs. 5.7 cubic feet).

Ergonomics

Unlike the driver-only memory system optional at extra cost in the Artura, the Vantage has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The Vantage’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel and glides the driver’s seat back, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. An easy entry system costs extra on the Artura.

If the windows are left open on the Vantage the driver can close them all from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the Artura can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

Keyless Entry standard on the Vantage allows you to unlock the driver’s door, trunk and start the engine all without removing a key from pocket or purse. This eliminates searching for keys before loading groceries, getting in the vehicle in bad weather or making a hurried start to your trip. The McLaren Artura’s Keyless Entry and Lock doesn’t unlock the trunk.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the Vantage to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Artura doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Vantage has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The Artura doesn’t offer headlight washers.

The Vantage’s power mirror controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The Artura’s power mirror controls are on the dash where they are possibly hidden by the steering wheel and are awkward to manipulate.

Optional air-conditioned seats in the Vantage keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in Summer. The Artura doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

On extremely cold winter days, the Vantage’s optional heated steering wheel provides comfort, allowing the driver to steer safely and comfortably before the car heater warms up. The Artura doesn’t offer a heated steering wheel.

To help keep the driver’s hands on the wheel, the Vantage has standard steering wheel controls for the radio. The Artura doesn’t offer steering wheel audio controls.

The Vantage’s Auto Parking can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, with the driver only controlling speed with the brake pedal. The Artura doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
