The DB11 has a standard blind spot warning system which uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them. A system to reveal vehicles in the M8’s blind spot costs extra.

Both the DB11 and the M8 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and rearview cameras.

Warranty

The DB11 comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The M8’s 50,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.

Engine

The DB11 V12’s standard 5.2 turbo V12 produces 13 more horsepower (630 vs. 617) than the M8’s 4.4 turbo V8.

Fuel Economy and Range

On the EPA test cycle the DB11 V8 gets better fuel mileage than the M8 Competition (18 city/24 hwy vs. 15 city/22 hwy).

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the DB11 V12’s fuel efficiency. The M8 doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction and acceleration, the DB11 has larger rear tires than the M8 (295/35R20 vs. 285/35R20).

Suspension and Handling

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the DB11 is 1.6 inches wider in the front than the average track on the M8.

For better maneuverability, the DB11’s turning circle is .6 feet tighter than the M8 Competition Coupe’s (38.4 feet vs. 39 feet). The DB11’s turning circle is 4 feet tighter than the M8 Gran Coupe’s (38.4 feet vs. 42.4 feet).

Chassis

The Aston Martin DB11 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 400 to 450 pounds less than the BMW M8.

The DB11 is 4.8 inches shorter than the M8 Coupe/Convertible, making the DB11 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces. The DB11 is 1 foot, 1.9 inches shorter than the M8 Gran Coupe.

Passenger Space

The DB11 has 3 inches more front legroom and 1.7 inches more rear shoulder room than the M8 Coupe.

Ergonomics

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the M8, the DB11 has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

In case of a sudden change of weather, the DB11 has a standard remote convertible top that can be raised from a distance to protect the interior of the vehicle from damage. On a hot day the DB11 has a standard remote opening feature, to lower the top from outside. The M8 doesn’t offer a remote top, so the driver will have to run to the car, get in, turn the ignition on and raise the top to prevent the interior from being damaged.

The DB11 has a standard center folding armrest for the rear passengers. A center armrest helps make rear passengers more comfortable and it can provide a boundary between children. The M8 doesn’t offer a rear seat center armrest.
